19 MDX front passenger window air leak

I have a very annoying air leak on the 19 MDX Adv hybrid from the front passenger window near the top right corner that sounds like a constant crackling sound at hwy speeds (+65 mph). I can push against the top right corner of the window and the sound goes away. Anyone else have this issue with any model?

Planning to take to the dealership. Wanted to find out how common is this issue and taking it to the dealership the only fix with various levels of success or failure.

mine is fine. Use a little compressed air near that corner, and a piece of thin hose to listen until you find it. It could be anything from a defective seal, to a leak at the mirror bolts. I've even see leaves caught in something that causes a seal not to work right. The hose and compressed air will take you right to where the exact leak is. Be lite with the compressed air to pinpoint the leak.

I took it in to an Acura dealership in San Antonio and they didn't hear the noise and just lubed the passenger window tracks. I only hear the noise at +65 mph on the open hwy outside of city limits mostly. They probably didn't hear the crackling sound because the hwy are usually pretty busy slowing down air flow (drafting+tall buildings on either side of hwy) in San Antonio. This was the same dealership that put in 6.5 qt of oil for my 1st hybrid A1 service instead of 4.5 qt. I had to take it back to them twice to adjust oil level. The last time I purchased 4 individual qts of oil and told them just put that in and no more.

I'm back in ABQ and haven't taken the MDX into the dealership where I purchased. Every once in a while, I hear the crackling sound from the front driver's side window on extremely windy days on the hwy. On my to-do list to take in; but, haven't done it yet.

Same problem here - Driver's side top corner of the window. Right next to my ear. Sounds like paper crackling. Only hear it on the freeway at higher speeds. I can make it go away by pushing on the window in that spot. I think it is something in the weatherstripping or when the weatherstripping is rubbing on the window.

2020 MDX Adv

Exact same issue here in our '17 Sport Hybrid. There seems to be a lot of play in the glass. If you roll window down 1/3 way and wiggle on the glass you'll feel it. Already brought to dealer they of course said they couldn't replicate. I'll bring it up again at next oil change.

In my case the noise was coming from the rubber trim rubbing against the paint creating a flapping/rubbing sound. Typically the dealer will wither lube the seals with silicone grease or replace the rubber seals. Either way it is a temporary fix. The solution I came up with is exactly how automaker keep rubber/plastics parts from squeaking when rubbing against other part and that is to cover one side with a felt to eliminate the sound. I have done that exact same thing on the door seals using an adhesive backed felt tape. I purchased a roll from Amazon for $8.25. So far I am quite pleased.

Applying the felt tape

Installed view from the drivers door. Notice how the felt is set inwards of the radius.

A view from the passengers door.

When the door is closed you cannot see the felt tape. This is good from an appearance standpoint was well keeping it dry in wet weather

Nice thanks for the idea 👍 I'll try it on our MDX.
I use this exact felt tape to rid of some rattling dash panels in my Lexus GS. Works great and very well made. Many Auto manufacturers use this exact tape. Great quality 👌

I might give this a try if the Shin Etsu white silicone grease doesn't work.

My noise is in different spot. It's top corner right where your ear is. At a long Starbucks line I stuck my finger up deep into that corner while window was down and fingered the shit out of it. so far while driving around town I haven't heard the crinkling. But real test will be driving to work doing 80+

I have same issue on my driver side front window. The noise is from top corner right up near my ear. It is quite annoying. My wife just took it to dealer today, and dealer claims they didn't hear the noise. So no fix was done.
Any body know how to convince the dealer ?

It is inconsistent I'm worried about the dealer not replicating the sound as well . Mine seems to be worse on cold days. Like maybe a rubber seal is stiff? If I push out on the window it will stop.

I gave the Shin Etsu white silicone grease a try and it didn't work at first. After about a week, I've noticed the crackling sound was greatly reduced. Not sure if the grease lube the window channel or just gummed up the channel to keep the sound down. Need to add the grease to the driver's side next because it just starting to make the same crackling sound in certain conditions.

It is inconsistent.
When it is warm and raining, I don't hear the noise.
when it is cold dry, I can hear the noise.. especially in windy day.
I also tried push the window out, it did stop or reduce the noise.
I guess it is seal rubber/weather strip issue.
kind of disappoint on Acura

Do a physical check of the window seals, followed by door seals.

So far, the Shin Etsu white silicone grease has worked for me silencing the "crackling" sound at hwy speeds after one application almost a year ago. My hwy mileage is waaaaaay down because of the the lockdown. I did take two out of state trips on the hwy at 75-80 mph and didn't notice any noise (1700 miles Grand Canyon, 2100 miles San Antonio/Corpus Christi).

On the drivers window toward the top back corner, roll the window down and the rubber in that corner is sticky. Has anyone else noticed this? I have a 2020 MDX Advance with 45K.

Yeah. My 2019 hybrid had same problem. I tried rubbing alcohol and it didn't fix it. I think the noise is that sticky stuff. The window at high speeds is being pushed / pulled off the residue. That stupid noise was one of the reasons I sold it. I think if you glue a piece of felt there it might help. I had my windows tinted and I was worried about tint rubbing it and never tried

Using Shin Etsu white silicone grease in the corners of both front windows is working for me. I have to re-apply 1-2 times a year with a Q-tip as needed. I don't notice the "crackling sound" with the Shin Etsu white silicone grease. The posted speed limit out west is 65-80 mph for 2-12 hours straight and I can set the ACC 5-10 mph above that. Factor in head and crosswinds in the 10-30 mph range.
