some wheels questions and suggestions

That's true. There's not too much wrong with using a larger bore, as long as they're centred via an adaptor. But the problem with adaptors is:
1. If the adaptor is a good, tight fit then it will inevitably corrode onto the wheel or the hub and make it difficult to remove.
2. If it stays removable because it isn't a tight fit then it's not adequately taking up the gap, so it may as well not be there.

Ed, it's also important to make sure the tire jockey actually puts the damned things on. Many times they'll leave them in the box and try to BS you saying you 'don't really need them.'

Yep. They all pretty much suck except for the BBS's IIRC, they have some kind of slick coating on their hub rings. I've used plastic and various metal ones. You can use a smidge of anti-sieze on the metal ones to help keep them from sticking.

Lesson is, watch the monkeys really carefully when they install your tyres or, even better, pay extra for metal rings

Yeah, Ed, they should come in a bag with the wheels.
Silver, I just remembered another set of hubcentric wheels I had back in the 80's. They were 16X8 Ronal R9's and they didn't use a hub ring. That tire monkey 'supplied' a 1/4" spacer for the fronts because he thought the hub bore ID was too small when it was actually perfect. They didn't tell me about that until I had to have the car towed in after *losing* the left front wheel less than 10 miles from the shop from an improper install.
I actually watched it bounce and then roll across the road finally landing in someone's bushes 100 yards away. =O

Similar thing happened to me. I don't think the person installing the wheels even knew what a hubcentric ring was. TireRack had already put them on, but one of them was slightly off and was crushed as well. I didn't notice vibration or anything else, being that it was in the rear passenger side. Finally, someone flagged me down on the street saying that my wheel looked like it was about to fall off.
It was a metal ring, too. Luckily, no real harm done as it was detected and corrected early.
HeavyDuty, that bouncing wheel must have been one hell of a sight. If it had happened to me I'd probably piss in my pants and laugh about it all these years later.

well, time to bump this thread up! still searching for wheels i like (while saving up some money!) and i came across this russian cu2 in grigio (volcano gray) and i love the look! i used to not really like the whole look with the lip, but this def. made me change my mind, especially on how good black rims with chrome lip look on the grigio!
so i think i am going to lean toward the black rims with chrome/polished lip. question is...what? any suggestions would be great. but keep in mind, high end wheels like volks or works will PROBABLY be out of the question since they are quite pricy...(unless of course, i see a good deal in the black market!)
so far i am thinking of xxr 006
but the more i look, i realize these ASA AR1 looks excatly the same! other than center caps
they both comes in 19, the ASA is just a bit cheaper. but the problem with ASA is that i feel "cheap" buying them..even the xxr, when u guys are spending a fortune on the wheels lol. so i jsut want some opinions and suggestions on these wheels, and any other opinions are welcome too

Ed, you're only 18. Don't worry about feeling cheap, seriously.
