Recommand tire size for winter.

Hi,

I want to know wich tire size would you recommand in 17inch for my 2012 Acura TSX 4 cyl? I know the OEM size is 225/50/17. Can I go with 215 for winter?

Thank you.

Guillaume

your speedo and mileage will be different based on a different circumference.

not that much but some

speedo will read 1.55% too slow

100 KPH before
98.48 KPH after

215 width is fine.. you can even up the side profile if you want. but like rob said, it's in your best interest to keep the overall diameter close to stock so that your mileage is still accurate

Ok I understand. But I tought that tinner tire size would be better in snow then wider tires..

That is true. Rob is just speaking from a misleading-speedometer/odometer point of view. Narrower tires will be better for the snow, but also keep in the back of your mind the overall diameter of the wheel/tire combo if you care about the reported speed and mileage.

i have 225/50R17 Ice Bear I bought used from CL. they work fine in ice.
its the snow that shuts us down.
IMO your front bumper height is more limiting than the oem tires in snow.

Guillaume, bonjour. Ca va?

I use our stock wheels and stock tire size for the winters. No problems through snow and ice. Even travelling down to SW Ontario and Michigan during the winter(deep snow, lots of ice) haven't produced any trouble -- running on Michelin X-Ice 3's.

Not that this matters.. but I just bought some Diablo Reflections. 20" and I have 245/30/20 on them.. Thought it would ride rough but it isn't much different from stock. I just need to comment my 5 posts so I can become a member. Haven't quite figured out how to navigate this forum yet. LOL

Thank you for all this information. I will consider a good set of tires for this winter!
