Question about TPMS Setup for Summer and Winter Wheel Set
I just bought a set of TSX V6 18" reconditioned wheels and Nitto Motivo tires for my car as as summer set for my '11 TSX. I also bought salvaged TPMS sensors for the TSX on eBay. On front wheel drive cars, I have always had a winter tire and wheel set as well as a summer tire and wheels set. This way, I can swap them off in the driveway on my own. I never had a problem swapping on my '06 TL or my girlfriend's '07 TSX. I took them to a local shop that I trust and they told me that the TPMS sensors are ECU matched. I did a quick search on the forum and could not confirm that either way. Has anyone had any experience with this? Do I need to have the sensors programmed each time?
On a side note, I'll post a review of the Motivo tires after I get some miles on them. I submitted for a trial set from an ad I saw on this site but was not selected. They didn't really acknowledge my submission which was a bit disappointing (in my world you always acknowledge a customer or potential customer). Anyway, I saw some reviews and a test by Road and Track online and was intrigued enough to buy them. The 60k mile warranty also helped sway me to give it a try.

Don't trust your local shop on this. If you bought the correct sensors (I'm not sure what reconditioned means as the only replaceable parts are the o rings) then they will automatically be recognized by the car.

Check with your dealer, my tire guys mentioned that one some cars TPMS have to be programmed.
I have never switched my TPMS though (I did from one set of rims to another). A quick call to your service desk should answer this.

Some cars are not our cars. A quick search of this forum would tell you that the sensors can be swapped without any programming. What part of my earlier response was difficult to understand?

must refrain from posting a rant about using the search...especially since we covered this topic recently...
as long as the TPMS you bought are either
Acura TPMS part #42753-TL2-A51/A52 (09+)
or
Acura TPMS part #42753-STK-A02/A03/A04 (MDX/RDX/Pilot/08 TSX)
they should work just fine by switching sets and driving a mile or less. if you bought sensors that aren't either of those...then you're fucked...in the ass...

Thanks all. I did do a search but I couldn't find anything definitive for our car. The guy said most "Honda's," which to me wasn't quite like "our cars."
I bought the sensors from a salvage yard on eBay. They were much cheaper than new and wasn't a benefit to getting new.
Anyway, I mounted the wheels/tires this morning and the TPMS sensors picked up without issue. So far, I am a big fan of the Motivo tires. I always thought this car had vague on center steering that was a little numb. These tires (and maybe the 18" upsize) really help to sharpen the steering. The whole driveline feels more substantial. They might slightly hurt my average MPG but I can't say that isn't due to going to an 18" diameter.
I also like the look of the V6 18" wheels on my car. I use the car for work so I like to keep it looking OEM. They look like they "fit" the car a little better than the 17's. At some point I'll try to post pics.
Thanks again to all.
