New RDX shoes and 245/40/19 Continental DWS tires......
Well I finally got my new shoes. There was another forum where a fellow member and I got in to a difference of opinion on what the proper size should be. Well I decided I was right and to put on some 245/40/19 instead of 245/35/19s. I know the diameter of the 40 series is smidge larger than stock, but that is what this car needs. The manufacturer tucked the wheels waaaaaaay in and put a tiny diameter tire on stock so there is a TON of room to increase the size with no worries of rubbing.
These wheels are also 8 inches wide instead of the factory 7.5 and they are 45mm offset instead of the facory 55mm. I think they look as close to perfect as they can. I like the semi aggressive stock look.

With the bigger diameter tires it looks like it has been lowered a little bit because it fills the wheel wells better. It also handles a TON better. A great upgrade that will keep me happy for the duration of ownership for the next few years.

I would be interested in seeing how you like those tires over time. (By the way, I would have chosen 245/35 tires, but that's just me).
Your ride looks great with those wheels. Grats!

Looks good, i have the same shoes sitting in my garage with new tires still unmounted. Im still debating if i should buy a new set of TPMS (-52) so i can still use the stock wheels for back up (rainy days when we get them)
Questions:
Did you use your stock TPMS? or did you use the RDX TPMS that came with the wheels?
One member said they worked (RDX TPMS) fine with no issues, and others say they will not work (2010). So i kinda put everything on hold.
Anyways, if you used the stock ones, did you replace the nut and washer?
Thanks.

What size do you have? Any smaller would look weird. I could still lower my car if I wanted to with no problems.

You have to drop her mate - but good choice on wheels. Interesting choice on tyres...
I always say, the TSX/Accord with aftermarket wheels looks like a fat lady in a short skirt... Drop her and she will look o so sexy!!!

I stole these wheels too from a seller on ebay who was selling them for $480. My dealership almost wanted this for one wheel.
I can not think of too many wheels that would look better on a stock height vehicle. I saw a TSX lowered on Work Varianza T1S wheels and that was the only one I have seen that I like the look of better.
I like how they are hub centric as well. You normally have to spend big bucks to get an aftermarket wheel that is hub centric.

I love these wheels....I love the Continental DWS tires.....

Yeah I noticed a little difference, may have lost a mile or so a gallon. But it handles way better. It is not a performance car to begin with and they are not trackable cars, so who cares. It makes the car waaaaay better in other areas.

Nah, I would stick with 40 series if I were to lower it. Lowering this car anymore than an inch would be bordering on ridiculous unless you were a 16 year old kid. Then at least they have an excuse for being young. My car with the HFP suspension would be the sick setup.

well you def can't beat the price . So well done!

The 35 series tire is the size that SHOULD be on there.. and even with a 1" drop a 35 series tire would be just fine.

and upon reading this again, yes of course if you lowered it I would keep the 40 series but what I was saying is that a 35 would look great lowered as well.

I can't really argue with that, it's just that 25 seems really light for OEM 19's. I just asked a dealer who was selling these on ebay the other day and he told me 32. I still contend that 32 sounds much more realistic than 25.

I believe you in that you see it in the parts book. All I'm saying is that I have a really hard time believing that they're 25 lbs. If they are indeed 25 lbs then fantastic . Infact I want them to be 25 lbs because I want them! I'm just a little skeptical.

Tread design and materials (stickier tires) for greater rolling resistance. You also have wider tires (245 vs 225).
The wheel weight difference is only 1 LB, which should have virtually zero mileage affect. Your tires are also equal weight to the stock tires from Michelin.

If the 19" RDX wheel is not made by forging/high pressure casting or shotblasted, I find it hard to believe it only weighs 25 LB as well. Maybe someone can put one on a scale...

Usually the only way you can make a bigger wheel lighter is by making a forged wheel (usually the lightest method) or high pressure casting. OEM wheels are typically very heavy since the are cast using the cheapest method (low pressure cast) and have heavy cross-sections for a higher saftey factor in the design.
