I'm still looking for more info in regards to the questions I asked earlier. Anything on this?

I'm thinking about ordering a set soon and would like more info before I decide to pull the trigger.

Thanks.

Hey Derwood,

I don't have the PK on my car currently but I have run PK's on (almost) every car I've owned since the mid 80's. (A dozen or so that I remember.) The Pro-Kit is a progressive rate spring using Japanese steel wound on German equipment. The ride is like stock for the first inch or so of compression then increases progressively to avoid bottoming out.

It's not the super-slam crap you see from other manufacturers, they don't sag over time (changing your ride height *and* alignment settings) and with a progressive rate, the springs don't overwork (prematurely wear) the struts by violently compressing and rebounding them the way a specific rate spring does.

For H/A, I'll only use Eibach or Comp...err...CT Engineering, but I don't think they have an app for us yet.

sorry on my lateness...my job was eating my life away.

the Eibach springs are Great with the OEM stock studs!!
in ride quality (****)4 stars!, i tell ya it gave my car a perfect drop & the feel it gave when gripping the road on every turn is 5 times better.
i have months with them on and no rubbing yet, even with 5pp in the car

at first i was a bit scared(cause of the 20"Rims) but it's been sweet so far.

*upgraded on rotors
drilled and slotted from irotors for Xmas! can't wait for spring!! jejejee

Thanks for the input. I already ordered a set a week or so ago from HeelToe. I'm still waiting for them to arrive but can't wait to get them on.

I've done a few spring installs in the past and hope this car is just as easy since I intend to install them myself.

I'm interested in them as well but don't want my ride quality to suffer. Please let me know how they compare to OEM. Thanks!

will a camber kit be required? I don't assume so since the drop isn't that much.

No, but you can rent one from any auto parts store. I've done quite a few spring installs in the past, 1/2 of which required a compressor and the rest didn't. Since you had a shop do it, are you sure whether or not one was even required?

I'm not doing it to save any money. I'm just doing it because I enjoy it. This is the first car in quite a few years that I've started modifying again and I missed working on them.

How much did it cost you to have it done anyways? What kind of shop was it? Dealer or just a performance shop?

I've installed the Eibach Pro-Kit on 2 previous vehicles and they didn't require a camber kit. After installing them I just waiting 3-4 weeks for them to fully settle, then took the car to get an alignment and I was golden. I'm assuming the same will be the case on this car.

you will surely be needing a Spring compressor, you can start renting one soon. i went to a proformance shop around my way...a friend of mine knows the owner and crew that works there("Technology-R" in the Bronx, N.Y)

they first changed my front springs...and asked me if i liked it with just the front Droped("Evo-style" they said)...i can't lie The Car Looked very sporty and most of all too much of PIMPING for me!.LOL

p.s: it cost me $150

Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to have a compressor on-hand if it's needed. I still intend to do it myself and look forward to it. The front ones will be a piece of cake, it's the rears that look like they might be a bit more of a PITA seeing as how the rear seats and interior panels will have to be moved/removed to get access to the strut attachment points.

You'll probably need another hand here & there, mostly to start the nuts on the upper mount studs up top next to the rear seat while you're in the wheelwell holding it up there.

It will probably be helpful to have a pair of feet for the BFPB needed to pull the rear lower suspension down so you can get the upper mount to clear the rear quarter panel lip. Geezus, that sounded wayyy more complicated than it really is...

It's not hard to do alone. All you have to do is put a jack underneath the axle you're working on and slowly jack it up while you line up the strut with the mounting holes. Eliminates the need for someone to use their own energy to hold it up.

fritoLay, have you had the need to get an alignment yet or think you'll have to?

My Eibachs came the other day. Just waiting for it to warm up a bit so I can install them.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Look damn sweet by the way. No gap between the tire and fender and it doesn't look ridiculously lowered either.

Found them. They make some really nice stuff.

Are you having any issues with rubbing since the car has settled? What offset did you get and, if you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the wheels?

Too bad they don't make the VW287 in anything bigger then a 17".
