BBS EVO X 18x8.5 +38 wheels on CU2

Hello everyone,
new member here, soon to be owner of a family owned 2009 CU2 Accord (I am from Europe), after 3 Civics (two of them B18C) this will be my 4th Honda in a row ;o]

Was looking at wheel and susp setups and got my eye on some Work CR Kiwami (old time fav) or M8R and when I was looking at my old wheelweights.net database excel (the site is no longer up but I found it on my hdd) I noticed the BBS EVO X MR wheels are exactly the same size offset as the Works I was looking at, and they are forged (so should be stronger) and even a bit are lighter. They also look kinda similar style to Work M8R.

I assumed there would be many evo owners that would not be aware of how good wheels they have and would be selling them for a good price (to replace them with something softer and heavier, lol). And indeed I was right. And I even found one locally for a great price. Asking $800 for a freshly refurbished set in black (not used since refurb) and even with winter tires with some decent thread left.

The evo x wheel/tire setup is:

Stock Wheels: BBS (MR)
Wheel Size: 18x8.5 +38 offset, Center Bore 67.1
Tire Size: 245/40R18 Yokohama Advan A13C (MY2008)
Comments: Forged, wheels are 18.5 lbs; wheel +
tire tire
~43 lbs.

Anyone running them on 2nd gen TSX?

I think they should be a good fit, seen some users here running MB Battles 18x8 +30 with same tire size (even Hankook Evo that I will probably get too).
The only "problem" with them is the center bore. TSX iirc is 64.1 and these are 67.1 but I guess since the wheels have bigger bore I could just have aluminium machined center rings to fix that.

I like the meaty boxy look, not a fan of stretched look and not a fan of stancenation setups. To me the meaty "track" setups look meaner and are surely better handling and more practical.

Pretty close spec setup on 2nd gen TSX - the MB Battle 18x8 +30 with 245/40/18 - looks great to me. Its on tein s-tech lowering springs which should be 1.6F/1.4R drop.

I might go for a more conservative H&R springs setup which I can easily get locally and is 35mm all round (about 1.35 inch).

And these are the evo x rims (the EVO MR are from BBS and forged, the EVO GSR are from Enkei and cast, but are exactly the same size and looks)
They come originally with 245/40 so at least the first official pic is with the original tire size.

You think it should work without fender work? I am not strictly against some rolling (don't want pull) but ofc would be nice not having to do that.

The offer is pretty tempting, better (stronger & lighter) wheels for the price of one new wheel. New the Works cost here each almost the same as the whole used evo set (yeah pretty expensive here, almost double of the price in US)

The issue you'll run into is that the evo wheels are lug centric and the tsx is hub centric, meaning the hub supports the weight vs the lugs. See if the pitch is the same on EVO lugs because you will need to use them to run the EVO wheels on the TSX

In the case of Hondas/Acuras...hub centricity is for ease of lining up the wheel whilst mounting.

The friction between hub face and rotor hat is what supports the weight of the car.

EVO wheels have shank lug nuts. So...if Mitsubishi lugnuts are M12x1.5 , you can use those. If not, perhaps Toyota lug nuts will work...as long as the shank is the right diameter/depth.

I have a set of BBS CHs 18x8 ET 38 with 225/40/18.They are too small and I am in a similar position, I can't decide between 235/45/18 or 245/40/18. I am planning on installing my coilovers first and then test fit the current tire setup to figure out which tire size will be more suitable.

let us know how did it work out

my acquisition of the family owned CU2 got a bit delayed due to minor accident but I will be getting it in about a month or so. The offering for the BBS EVO wheels is no longer active but other may pop out. I have since found some more appealing wheel options but it still kinda remains in the game as a cheap alternative how to get a quality set of wheels if they do fit ok, so I am intersted to head how things worked out for you.

not using EVO wheels, but am running a 18x8.5 +38 Enkei Raijin with 245/40/18 MPSS.

The car is lowered and most of the alignment angles are within factory parameters. No rubbing. Driven the car from Chicago to NY state and NYC and lots of other places without trouble.

I'll be selling them soon...about mid next week.

I am starting to think my wheels are too narrow.

Front fitment is right on the line.

Rear fitment is easy.

Man your car looks good!

what tire size do you think I should get? They are off for the winter but I think the current tires are 225/40/18 and the sidewall BUGS me. It looks too narrow when it’s pinched between the wheel and th ground.

Thanks.

I have used 225/45/18 Direzza Z2 (not a good DD tyre lol).
245/40/18 Conti DW and 245/40/18 Michelin PSS is what I have now. The PSS is good at everything....and likely the best all-around summer tyre on the market.

If you want the Pilot Super Sport (PSS), buy them now. They are on closeout on tire rack for under $600 shipped!

The PSS is one of my favourite daily driver tyres. Its a summer only tyre. I swap to a winter setup when it starts snowing.

BBS from evo no firmen y issues stock height. Not gonna ever lower it. You’ll need Mitsubishi lugcentric and just let lugs center wheel while tightening. Easy peasy. Enjoy the forged
