8.0 vs 8.5, is it worth my money?
Debating 8" +40 offset vs 8.5 +35 offset
Difference according to offset calc is 11mm outward extension, and difference according to my wallet is ~$200
I also like that the 8" + tire will be lighter than the 8.5 by like 4-5 pounds per wheel. But i worry that the offset will look super weak. I dont really care about being hellaflush, but i dont wanna be super tucked on the rear, since I dont plan to use spacers.

concavity is the same, but is the lightness / cost worth the 5mm?
whos rocking 8.5" + 35?
whos rocking 8.5" + 35?

4-5 pounds per wheel is not trivial, but not boat anchor territory. What's the overall weight you are talking here? Is the difference from 40-45 lbs? Or 50-55 lbs? If you're looking at light weight rims, I assume it is because you want weight savings, in that case, the weight difference will matter. If you don't care about weight savings and are looking at rims that are already relatively heavier, then that's not a big deal.
IIRC, stock 17 rims are between 25 to 27 lbs, so how I look at it is even if the 8.5 wides are heavier than 8s, but are still lighter than 25, I can accept the increased weight.
As for looks, 8" +40 ET will look significantly different from 8.5" +35 ET, but either way, improvement over stock. 8.5 +35, depending on tire size and drop, is going to be close to flush and a good fit with the fender.

rims are 20~ lbs per wheel, the 8.5 should be ~23-24 per wheel, tire weight im not positive
im also figuring if i ever sell ill have a much easier time selling the 8.5 vs the 8.0

Not sure if you're talking 18s, but judging by the weight, that's what I'm guessing. Typical 235/40 or 245/40 summer tires are around 25 to 28 lbs per random tires I looked up on Tirerack, so you're looking at around 50 lbs per wheel in total weight, or even under, which is pretty good. Regardless, can't go wrong with any 8.5 wides that are lighter than stock, in terms of handling and looks, and to a degree, acceleration.
Looking forward to seeing them...
