Weird TPMS readings

I have done a few pages of research on google but no one seems to have the same problems as me. One day my FD TMPS will read 52 and the next day it will read 23. I have a manual TMPS gauge and it has always been reading 32-34. I keep all my tires at 33 like factory but idk what's wrong. One day I got the low TPMS warning and the reading was 23 but gradually went back up to 30 and than back down. Pulled over to the next gas station to check with my gauge and same thing, still reading 32ish. My friend thinks my tire is broken. Anyone have any suggestions for what I should check for? Buying a new TPMS is no problem since they're only 20 bucks but the dismount/remount charge will kill me (About 30-40) . But I don't want to replace it if its not the problem.

PSI will increase as temperature rises. Temperature will rise during the day, drop during the night. Temperature will also rise as you drive the car due to friction. The proper PSI reading you should be going on is cold PSI, meaning first thing in the morning before the first drive.

That being said, an almost 30 degree swing during the day is abnormal. Unless the temperature dropped like crazy from one day to the next, I would start checking the PSI with a real gauge to verify whether your TMPS is faulty or not.

oh... so that's what FD means. so did you check your tire pressure with a real gauge?

I have the little gauge sticks that you can buy anywhere. It's reading 33. Yesterday I deflated the tire to about 10 PSI and the car was reading 18. Pumped it back up to 33 and was reading 42. The readings are just inaccurate but I can't explain the phenomenon of the reading fluctuations. I'll try going to discount tire cause apparently have a device that can read if your tpms battery is low.

Which TPMS sensors do you have? What part number? You can get whack readings from incorrect sensors.

I bought the honda pilot sensors I believe. When i ordered on eBay I don't remember exactly the part number but it was the one that ended in 4. That is the only sensor acting up though and I had all 4 on the car at the same time since November 2012.

It could be the sensor in the wheel, or the part that reads it that's on the car. You might want to swap out the funky tire/wheel assembly with one from somewhere else on the car. If it still reads incorrectly, it's most likely the part mounted on the car (in front, it's hidden inside/behind the bumper I believe). This is the problem with my wife's 07. We decided to live with; looks expensive to have fixed (or a PIA to do it myself).

That is actually a really good idea.... I can't believe I never thought about that. I can swap my front wheels and carefully drive until the tpms readjust and find the problem.

I swapped the front wheels today and it's definitely the TPMS. Took it to Discount to double check and they used their tmps reader thing and said the tmps was fine its just too much air. He deflated a tiny bit of air and I think he added more air, not too sure, and said I was done but that one tire is still much being read at 40 PSI. He redid all my tires and all the other ones are 36.
