Vibration when Accelerating

Hey fellow Acurazine members,
Was hoping I can maybe get a possible answer as to whats causing this, but when I accelerate at low RPM's from 2nd gear and up I get a vibration from what appears to be the wheels (My steering wheel vibrates as well). I have Ichiba spacers on the front and rear (hubcentric), my car is lowered with H&R springs and still using stock struts. This has been going on for about three weeks, hasn't gotten any worse and under normal driving without heavy acceleration I do not experience the vibration. I recently rotated my tires and had them re balanced thinking it was a balancing issue but that didn't solve the problem. The tires are only about 6 months old and have little to no wear.

Could it be that I need another alignment? I did one three years ago after lowering the car and installing the rims but just weird it would start all of the sudden three weeks ago. Hoping its something minor but also dont even know where to start. I have a warranty on the car and might take into the dealership but wanted to save on the long drive if its most likely maintenance which they wont cover.

Greatly appreciate any feedback. If more information is needed let me know!

alignment wouldnt be vibrating... if youre needing an alignment the car would be veering or pulling to one particular side or anther.

from what i read, if its vibrating only at lower speeds and not higher... i dont think it can be your wheels, tires, or suspension since they will be vibrating more with the increase in speed with more stress on them.

have you tried to see if anything else caught your attention that seems different other than vibration?

if its only during acceleration, it could be something else... perhaps something in your drive train

Thanks for the reply, really appreciate it. Actually I said lower RPM, not speed.. and its actually worse at higher speed especially when accelerating on the freeway. Either way I agree with your opinion on the alignment. Thinking I should take it into the dealer. Do you think this type of problem could be caused from the modifications or more likely just an issue in general with the car?

This may be the 3rd 2nd gen documented case (that I know of) of a bad axle/s. Welcome to the club !

sounds like axles. and if you're lowered with spacers and still under warranty...you're on your own for the fix. if you're out of warranty...you're still on your own for the fix.

the mods can increase the strain on the axles which can cause them to wear prematurely (in your case, the inner CV joints).

i would say if you are in warranty think about taking it to the dealers for the fix.

but i would take the time to turn the car back to stock as possible and see if the problem occurs... i guess this way you can sort of narrow down the issue.

if the problems increases as the vehicle speed increases then you should consider opposite of what i posted earlier. i have had a honda in the past with one lug nut slightly loose in the one front wheel and caused a vibration.

then i also had a bmw with a bent rear wheel that an alignment or a rolling test could not detect that would cause massive vibrations variated along with the traveling speed.

i have also had a VW touareg with a bad drive shaft and its link and that would cause a vibration, but it wouldnt be through your steering wheel. more towards a body structure and engine shake vibration... guess im trying to say you would feel it through other parts of your body more.

perhaps there was some sort of happening that might have stirred up the issue? such as pot holes, curbs, and etc...

either way i kind of got this feeling through my 3 months ownership that the 2nd gen tsx has some issues acura should really address more easily for the owners... and i think tsx is also not the best car to mod out there. but thats coming from a biased unhappy owner.

hope you get the issue sorted out though and let us know what happens.

^^I am with her...only vibration occurred when accelerating and disappeared when cruising. I had my tires rotated and balanced which didn't fix it.
My driver side axle was the culprit and after Paul(nva-av6) replaced it, car was back to normal. Plz get those axles checked out.

Make sure your hub rings are the correct ones. I bought TSW rims for my car and the tire store ordered the hub rings with the rims. However, I recently found out (after 2 balancing efforts and still a vibration under certain conditions and acceleration) that it may be that the hub rings that the tire store installed may not be the right size and are allowing the wheel to move slightly. A third balancing effort at a speciality tire place (that I trust) revealed the issue with the hub rings. They have ordered the correct ones and they are to be installed tomorrow. Will let you know if it fixes the problem or if I will also be joining the bad axle fan club!

Im having this same issue. Did it ever get resolved? Im thinking its the axle, just from reading what is posted on the description for this part on HT.

I recently had this issue with my 2009 TSX. In km, around 125,000km -- I was experiencing heavy vibrations while driving (90-120km/h)

Turns out it was the axles. I bought rebuilt aftermarket ones, the Acura originals ones were very expensive.

So you are advocating warranty fraud?

He modded, he broke it, he pays.

Common' Ceb, it's only fraud when someone steals from you. If you're stealing from them it's ok.

Right. How could I have not considered that?
