trim discoloration

Hi, I am in the process of purchasing an acura certified pre-owned 2009 tsx. I found this car in the dealer I really like but found one problem with the interior.

The car has black leather interior with this dark grayish color trim (not sure of the exact color name) around the center console. On the driver side I see some big black spots. Looks like the color came off from constant rubbing from driver's right leg??

The car has about 15k miles so not sure if this normal for the trim to discolor like that.

Thanks,

its not. i have 18k on mine and it looks spiffy. it was PROBABLY some fat asshole rubbing the shit out of it with his leg. Make sure you are happy with EVERYTHING before you lay down your cash. The trim pieces are removable though and can be refreshed with new pieces , you can also swap em for black trim

this pic is stolen from member ctwickman:

it would also cost around 150ish to have all the silver pieces replaced.

I'm sorry for kinda thread jacking, but it's related somehow and I've been waiting for this, but my sister scratched the silver lining above the glove compartment, is that replaceable? Anyone have the part name and a price estimate?

Those are very easy to take out and try taking it to a paint shop if you can't paint. I don't think buying a new one would justify the cost. As for the OP, ask the dealer to fix it before delivery. I am sure they can take it off and either replace it or paint it for free

the trim pieces can all be bought seperately for about 50$ a trim piece for the larger ones, 20-30 for the bigger ones.

if you guys tell me EXACTLY which piece is fucked up i can give you the proper parts number.

i used bernardi acura parts search by tsx 09 and then go to interior/bumper parts -> then view instrument panel

The scratch also continues down onto the glove compartment but it's not as deep...the trim though, is scratched through the paint and you see the actually trim through the paint.

Even the replacement pieces are just as easy to scratch. My sister sat in my car and had her keys in her hand and she barely ran them along my black-trim and boosh....scratch.

Anywho, I bought my black trim replacement kit from Bernardi as well. It was like $180 or something shipped. Not bad. IF you have all the correct tools, not many at that, you can have your panels completely swapped out in an hour. The cupholder piece is really about the toughest part to get out and it'll feel like your going to break it.

You remove the applicable back pieces off the trim and swap over to the new trim and then snap 'em in place. A few screws and presto! Yer done!

Yeah I was thinking of getting the black kit, but decided that I love the contrast. Looks clean as fuck!
I could always spray paint it lime green though

I am going to take that car I mentioned in 1st post since dealer is willing to replace the trim piece for me. I believe this is a good deal for a 16k mile 09 with tech pkg for 23k?

For the black trim everyone's been talking about what material is it and is it just painted in black and just as easy to get scratched like OEM one?

KillerG... Just go to the Acura website and go to the tech manual section. It'll list everything step by step. I actually took my laptop out to my car with me and went through it that way. Do the steps in order! There's no easier/better way. It takes a small phillips screwdriver and get a thin, wide blade, like a putty knife almost, to help with the removal. If you are going to do your shift knob too do it at the same time. You'll need a torx bit for that. Easier to do it when everything is out.

silvscorp... It is the same type of trim. Same plastic. Same everything. Just a different color. And yes, it is painted but looks pretty spiffy.

One more recommendation with the black trim kit. NEVER use any type of cleaning agent or silicone product or what-have-you. It will leave splotch marks and it'll take you a month of constantly going back and rubbing the trim with a cloth to get all the crap off.

totally agree man Your sarcasm as made this board so entertaining , but some people have a hard time getting it i guess. I felt bad for parasurfer when I meant to say jokingly that Ed and I were going to AZ for the downpipe. Sorry for making fun of ur Bugatti, but I'm a Mclaren F1 owner

What spamming ? We were just talking about the discoloration on the trim can be cause by owning a Bugatti, a Mclaren, and a LFA. Then we brought in celebrities like Paris Hilton cause they tend to discolor the trim w/ unholy colors. Charlie Sheen did so w/ tiger blood. Also there was no thread hijacking, this is all a conspiracy that Killer heard from Glen Beck.
Back to the topic, where can i get all the black metal trim for 150 bucks, Killer?
P.S I apologize if i offend any Beck supporters. I love u all. Peace!
