Steering Wheel "leather" chipping

My steering wheel "leather" elastic on my 2009 TSX has started to rip apart and come off, right at about the 7 o' clock area, near my left knee.

Aside from wrapping electric tape around it or buying a new steering wheel, is there a quick fix?

This is the first time I heard of the problem, sounds like a warranty repair item. The steering wheel is fully adjustable (up/down and telescopic) so I assumed it's not rubbing your knee and caused the damage.

The steering wheel is not cheap $300-$400 plus one hour labour to R/R.

When I wear Levi's the copper rivets on my change pocket strikes and scratches the wheel more often than I'd like to admit. It's kinda strange to notice it as much as I do.

I'd also say to talk to your dealer, it's a nicely made wheel and should be covered.
