My car is a 2009, everything works great on it except for it has a light on the dash that says "side airbag off" and a ring that never stops. That's the main issue; the ring never stops. It's continuous and the only way to ignore it is by listening to loud music, I took it to the dealership and they say that the airbag module has to be replaced, but that's about all they told me. I don't want to pay $1000 for something that might have another cure, so if anyone has ever gone through this problem or know anyone that has please give me a hand. I've tried everything, even went as far as replacing the airbag and still nothing. Thanks.

 

Why don't you believe what they told you?

That sounds plausible.

I would suspect that you could get the light and chime to stop by installing an appropriate sized resistor in line to trick the system into thinking the airbag was installed and good. But aside from being entirely unsafe, I believe that is also illegal. That's not to say it hasn't been done before, so Google is your friend.

But really, why not fix it right?

 

or at minimum buy a salvage part and try it/
