Seat "wing" is loose!

Didn't see any threads on this...but, my passenger seat's left "wing", that is the outer side/support, is loose. It will move slightly when I lightly push/pull on it. I noticed this when sitting as a passenger in my car. The seat (wing) was making a sound when my body would shift into it. I'm about 160lbs and the biggest thing that's been in the car

The driver side seems to have a bit of play, too. Is it just my car or do others notice this too? Has anyone taken it in for fixing? Don't remember it being like this when I got it a year ago.

Seat back or seat cushion?

If it's the seat bottom or cushion, look down in between the console and the seat track from up top and you'll see a little white plastic tab sticking out like a dorsal fin. Sit on the seat and push the tab down with your hand, then push the tab against the seat frame bottom and it will clip back in place.

I think you're talking about the white plastic clasp that holds the leather cover on (or whatever it does). While I have seen that come off, this isn't the issue I'm having.

It's the actual seat...the side of the seat (padding, "wing", whatever) that would hold you when you take sharp turns, etc. When I push this part of the seat, there's some play. Plus, it makes some noise which is how i noticed it being loose. I'm wondering if the sides of the seat are some how screwed into something (seat back for example). Looks like I'll just need to take it in.

I see, it appears you're talking about the seat back and the bolsters in particular. Got it.

There's clips, screws, zippers, clasps, hog rings and other attachment hardware in any seat. It may very well be something to have the dealer address if you don't feel like exploring.

I've had the same problem for months.. when anyone sits there, it squeaks/groans over bumps or turns. The dealer has twice taken my vehicle for days, and added "additional" padding.. and it works for a week or so, then comes back.

My service advisor is aware of it and is just waiting for me to make an appointment to fix it again - I may suggest a replacement... would this be a lemon if it isn't repaired after three times?

Dunno if a seat squeak would qualify for lemon law invocation. Is it that bad?

Not just a squeak...something is definitely loose or coming loose. Given all the stuff they pack into these seats who knows the ramifications. At the very least it sounds like an old, cheap car when someone sits there and it starts squeaking like it's about to fall apart.

The squeaking complemented the (now resolved) pinging. What a harmonious song the two would play out for my guests!

PS: To correct myself, I think by "wing" I'm referring to the side bolster.

LOL, I understand, little stuff can drive me bananas, and I'm not specifically addressing your issue as being little stuff, but rather squeaks & rattles in general.

Did you take it to the dealer?

If not, an upholstery shop (auto, boat, aircraft) should be able to fix it quick.

Hasn't gotten to a point where a dealer visit is needed. I'll wait for the next ping, squeak or rattle then check in! Now that i think about it, the driver side door lock has a squeal sometimes...hmmm.

That's a familiar sound, mine does it too.

At first I thought it was the driver's side rear door lock actuator, now I'm wondering if it's the gas lid locking mechanism.

I've got this weird squeal from the passenger side ,when you close the door or I go through bump too. I think it comes from the door side and it is kind of annoying every time I go through a even small bump.
My driver seat back comes kind of loose ,but I only feel it when I tilt the seat cushion up.
I have a problem I think with my passenger site front speaker and it gives me a kind of the same squeal sound blow out too.
Those little things just don't stop popping up! I can live with it ,but I hope this would be the only things and this car won't have any other major problems!
