Rocker Panel / Skirt Rust

So I cleaned and detailed the car today, and noticed that there's rust behind the rocker panels (rain channels) right behind driver and passenger front wheel wells. It's enough decomposition that I can push the rocker panel a few mm's with a slight push. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas to slow down the rust so the corner of the rocker panel doesn't fall off?

and just for kicks .. 3 days of intermittent detailing
Griot's Garage DA + Meguiars DA Microfiber Polishing Kit 5". Got about 50% of my paint defects out.
Klasse AIO and SG to top off.

Are you the original owner? If not, though it's a long shot (since it's on both sides), I'd be concerned about previous body work or if the car was partially submerged. I've had a few Acura's long term, and rust was never a problem with any of them.

2nd owner. Paint still looks like it's the original and matches. I do live in the great salt and snow belt, so rust is a common occurrence.

I live in the Northeast and did all highway miles for many years, which mechanically, are easy miles. But contrary to the popular myth, it's the worst of all worlds as far as body integrity is concerned, with daily exposure during the winter to sand and salt. I have had no problems with rust though; perhaps it's the luck of the draw. It's rare to read about it occurring, in this forum. It would seem that your choices are few: leave it, or fix it.
