Angry Right Fog Glass!!!

I drove my car to school this morning just fine. When I parked the car I always take a look around the car to make sure everything is fine as usual. I noticed that my right fog light glass was cracked.

The Fog light still works but the front glass is cracked.

Which is the best way to go about this? Can I get someone to fix the glass? Buy a new housing for it? etc.

buy a new foglight housing, and this is a common problem for the 1st gen. i guess the problem continued onto our cars too.
your best bet after getting new housing is lamin-x overlay, that'll offer some protection.

Yeah, mine's fecked too. Ya gotta buy the whole light. Guess that's what happens when you drive a 3,400 pound brick down the road at 79 mph.

When I replace it, I'm gonna do some kinda lamin-x...thing.

Damn... That sucks big time...

I guess I'll be swapping out the housing, use lamin-x overlay, and install 6000k or 8000K HIDs while I'm at it.

Great, more expenses, but if I look at the cup half full, its a nice little project.

Thanks for the replies!

you need to be careful with HID fogs, not so much with the install, but with how you use it.
once you turn HIDs on, it needs to be on for approx. 30 seconds before you shut it off because you need to give it time for the gas to fill the chamber and for the ballists to fire correctly.
that means dont leave your foglights on with your headlights set to auto. if you havent noticed, locking/unlocking the car makes the headlight/foglight turn on and off very fast, and that could potentially damage HID foglights.
Our OEM HID headlights however, are designed to take that kind of abuse.

^ i think it would just be better if you put it over a new one to prevent it from cracking

Try googling lamin-x, or click below.

Both of the foglights cracked on my 06 tsx within the first 6 months. The dealer replaced them free as a one-time goodwill. I then put rockblocker (no longer in business) on them and no problems (knock-on-wood)

I was told the same thing but never considered them being rude. I was just happy they replaced them free one time. They did not have to-normal wear and tear.

I got a price quote yesterday for my right fog light at a local Acura dealership (Paragon Acura - NY).

Price Quote: $375.00 (Thats with tax and installation.)

Freakin RAPE!!!!

P.S. That was a quote not an actual transaction.

i think you'd need to be careful, hid's in the fogs would totally melt ur protection overlays..

I do try to be careful-but driving on highways with lots of trucks and having glass foglights does not go well together (I try to stay away from the trucks). I only have the foglights on when it is foggy and make sure I turn them off. Have rockblocker on them for almost 3 years now.

False..the heat generated from halogen bulb is more than the hid bulb and neither will melt the overlays..however the light output is significantly increased with hids..

Yep, I have the same problem. It's been over 6 months now and I haven't done anything about it. Fog light still works so perhaps I may someday get it fixed/replaced at the dealer. Let me know if you find a better/cheaper fix to this.

Thanks!
Steve

Mine is cracked too, I wish you could just buy a replacement fog light "glass" piece instead of having to purchase the whole fog light

Dealer quoted me almost $450 to replace the right fog light (2010 TSX V6). So, I called my insurance (State Farm) and they paid to have it done. Fell under comprehensive, and all I ended up paying was my $100 deductible.

Now you should try to put some kind of protective covering on them.
I put rockblocker (now out of business) on mine about 3 years ago. Both of the foglights cracked within the first 6 months. The dealer replaced them free as a one-time goodwill. Too bad your dealer did not do that.
