Noisy electric power steering

My 2009 tsx has noisy electric steering. When you turn the wheel lock to lock while the car is moving slowly, the steering makes a whirring noise. Does anyone else's do this?

Any input would be appreciated.

I can hear a little bit of something making a noise at slow speeds, say while parking. It sounds more like one piece of plastic rubbing on another to me, like the back of the steering wheel trim contacting the column trim?

Ya, that's more along the lines of what I experience.

That's exactly what I am experiencing. I guess it is a "characteristic" of the car. Any others who want to share?

I dont have that problem. But if you take a sharp, continuous corner, does anyone's electric steering lock in that position until you yank the wheel the opposite way to break the "hold"? I can take a sharp corner, continuous and take my hands off the wheel and the car will continue the turn..... I spoke with Acura and they said a new software program might come out in the future if others complain about it. Happen to anyone else?

yes, the same for my Honda Accord Euro (it's the same car as your Acura TSX, but sold in Europe as Honda Accord)
2.4 M/T bought on 1st September

I will speak also with our Honda rep here

If you don't get a whirring sound when going lock to lock at low speeds (and end up with a heavy steering wheel), that means your power steering is not working!

Yes, this happened to me too, only once. To be honest, it really scared the crap out of me. Never experienced anything like it before. Quickly and easily corrected it but for a brief second I was scared it was stuck!

well that noise that you hear which is mostly heard when the car is stopped, parking or just turning slowly is very annoying! i had took it to the dealer ship when it had about 1000 miles on it and they tested everything out and said that the steering was fine when connected to the computer and told me if it got worse to take it in.. but yea i think it might be the plastic rubbing all i know is that the steering on the 09 tsx feels weird period. sometimes when im driving on the highway i feel like it turns slightly by itself.. but all i know is that if it keeps happening im just going to keep taking it in to the dealer cause i did not pay 30,000 for something as important as steering to be messed up

the steering is sensitive since it is electric so it doesn't get stiffer with speed like power steering, when you're on the high way the tsx pulls to what ever way the road tilts, you'll notice if you're in the middle lane on a level road the car drives straight, but if you get in the right lane it pulls to the right, and if you get in the left lane it pulls to the left. This was awkward for me when I first bought it but I have since got used to correcting it with out even thinkin about it.

Same here. Apparently not a problem, but a design "feature."
