Nav'ie Traffic Gone Today...

So today I was driving into work and half way there to work, the traffic status on the Nav stopped working. All the freeways are light up with only a thin red line.

I no longer get the double freeways lines with green, yellow, or red indicators where there is traffic or no traffic. I didn't change any feature, I was just driving and the Nav stopped showing me the traffic status.

Has this happed to anyone here before? TSX 2009 Tech

Hi - the standard deal is that you get free XM for 3 months, after which you'll need to subscribe. The Traffic status comes on the XM package.

Personally I found the XM traffic and weather not terrible useful, so I just renewed the XM radio portion.

Shiet!

I didn't know the traffic was part of the XM deal, damn it! Man, I like using the traffic feature more than listening to XM radio.

What to do?

Happened to me too AFTER I had renewed the XM with traffic. Called XM tech support and got nowhere. Ultimately they suggested that I would need to update my map system (only another $185!). I learned to live without the traffic because in real life it was not that useful. Mentioned it to the dealer this week and they replaced the XM unit under warranty because it was sticking in the loading function. Service rep checked this out on the spot and that is what I saw on the screen was consistent with what he was telling me. No charge no problem right? Wrong. Seems like you have to transfer your subscription to the new XM unit by calling XM directly as the subscriber. Two phone calls, holding, going on line and repeating twice I am still stuck in XM preview. Oh i forgot to mention the $20 transfer fee the rep tried to stick me with and another radio for my house. My house uses Sonos running through my home audio system. It just works. No problems. Too bad XM can't get its act together and too bad I can't get Sonos in my 2009 TSX. For navigation, I would go back to Garmin which I use in my other car (350Z) which costs less than a map update for the TSX even though all the maps come from Navteq. Acura can and should do better.

Not worth it when you can get traffic for free through Google Maps on any smartphone really....and it seemed more accurate for me then the XM anyways.

KillerG - I had the same thing happen -- but I got a letter from XM Radio that they were turning the traffic / weather back on briefly as a "teaser" to try to get me to subscribe again. Not an Acura issue, but Sirius XM trying to get you to buy.

The traffic stopped working on my nav a few months ago also. Bad XM control unit which had to be replaced and had to be followed by a call to XM to have them remove the old unit from my account.
I use the traffic feature quite a bit and find it really useful. I agree with most that the weather feature is pretty useless. Now a weather radar overlay would be kinda cool - but really just eye candy. It's not like I'm going to choose a different route because there is heavy rainfall along my route.
