Minor Scratches...advice sought

I'm new to the forum...bought a blue vortex 2011 TSX sport wagon last month...first one bought at the dealer I went to in Annapolis, MD! I was washing my car today and noticed my first few scratches. I was pretty bummed out considering I haven't driven it much. Nothing major, but somewhat noticeable. Wanted to see if using some touch paint is the right way to go. My car was treated with the Cilajet protectant when I purchased it.

how deep is the scratch? when u run ur finger nails lightly on it, does it dig in? if not its probably just light scratches on clear coat and can probably be buffed out. if its deep down the paint, repaint is gonna be needed

Thanks for the quick reply. I think 1 or 2 may need some touch up paint. A few of the other ones don't seem to really dig in when I use my fingernails so buffing may be possible. Pardon my ignorance, but I've never buffed these out before. Any recommendations on the best and easiest way to do so? Do I need a buffing/sanding machine?

Not sure how deep you are talking about? I have a Vortex Blue and I got to tell you it gets fine clear coat scratches just from looking at it.

You might want to only hand wash but that will not cure/stop it 100% it. Once a year you can have a detail with compound but that is not something you want to do to often if you are not leasing, it makes the clear coat thinner and thinner. But a compound with look awesome for a few weeks.

You might want to stop looking to close at it. Post some pictures of car and scratches.

Oh, that is not good news about the Vortex Blue. Out of the 4 or 5 scratches, two are fairly deep (on the trunk...probably a box or bag rubbing against it caused it), others are minor. I'll try to post pictures.

Just bought some yesterday...will see if it makes a difference. Tried regular Meguiars clean wax and it didn't really help. Maybe I should just stop looking at it per the advice given above...its bound to get some scratches and dings over time...just didn't think so soon!

Last week I was at Wal-Mart for a quick stop and came back to this.

This deeper scratches were harder to remove.

After wetsanding them with 2500 and 3000 grit. Compound with orange LC flats, then polished with white LC flats. I then applied wax on the whole panel.

If you have any questions feel free to pm for help.

Thanks! Just be VERY CAREFUL when wet sanding, Acura clear is very thin compare to other cars. I have used scratch, before I knew anything about detailing. Its a great product for beginners.

I would use touch up paint as a last resort because it will stand out a lot more. Try looking for a local detailer, he should be able to fix light and some deep scratches.
