Question Leather Seats Problem

So my tsx leather seats are creasing and it barley has 8k miles. I know this is normal for leather seats to crease but not at this mileage. Any advice on how to prevent this and/or how to treat them??

Pictures would help, but look at a problem called Leatherique.

The leather in these cars is cheap shit. The Japanese use a crap leather compared to the German manufacturers.

and also, i dont think this japanese leather is too bad. germans don't even put leather stock on their cars... they have fake leather, and real leather is i think another $1400 depending on manufacturer lol

Mine has 6k and my leather still looks new, but I take a lot of preventive measures to make sure it looks decent.

* I only use Acura leather cleaner / conditioner on my seats. I don't let it soak in, I just soak the cloth, wipe the seats down, and remove
* I clean my leather after sweaty days, or at least every couple of weeks
* I don't sit on my side bolsters - they crease easy
* During the summer I sit on a towel
* I have a canvas cover for my back seat when transporting the dog

I will agree that the leather in the TSX is not up to par with other luxury cars. When I bought my 2011 I was looking used, and every single car (even the ones with <10k miles) all had trashed leather, which almost turned me off from buying a TSX. I'm glad I did, but it does take some extra work to keep the leather looking decent.

I know the driver's side bolster creases easily, so that's just a given. I accept it and move on.

I like to think that Acura gets their leather from the same cows that produce Kobe beef.

The perforated leather sections on my driver's seat near the knee and hammie area are significantly creased compared to the passenger seat. I do condition the high wear areas of the seats with Lexol on a regular basis (monthly). Right now, I have 12K on the clock. If the wear on the perforated sections become an eyesore in the next year or so, I will replace it with Alcantera.

Mine has 40k on the clock and now the driver-side bolster looks like my grandpa's forehead.

I've never had bolster wear since I'm all of 140lbs. (No, I'm not a woman).

I brought it to the dealer earlier this week to throw a stinker about my seats... They said if the seats crack they will replace them but not because of creasing. I think at this rate they will be cracking pretty soon!! I don't like our soft leather seats.

Please note, I do clean and condition my seats regularly.

I got my 2010 almost a year and half, 15K miles on, never ever apply any kind of leather treatment on, never clean/condition on it, and it still looks fine. am I a lucky one or what?

Acura difinitely uses a different grade of leather in the 2G than in the 1G. The leather in the 2nd Gen is softer. It is actually a dark charcoal gray, not black. I am not hopeful that the leather will hold up well over time.

My seats in my 1G still held up pretty well at the time when I traded it in. It had 193,000km on the clock after 6.5yrs. I used Lexol cleaner and conditioner about twice a year.

Not all leather is the same but it is similar.
Your seats in this car are split hide leather and coated.
Split Hide are bottom of animal's skin.
Your best prevention is to clean with warm water
and much better than more expensive harsh chemicals.
Harsh chemicals will eat thru the coating.
The only Acura's with more premium leather is upgraded MDX, RL, ZDX and it is full grain.
Top Grain is only in $200 K + cars.

I've got 14.5K on mine now, and the leather is creasing, too. What bothers me more is that the left side of the driver's seat seems to have a dent in the cushion. I guess from getting in and out of the car? Poor quality?

I HAVE 1500 MILES ON MINE! AND I CAN SEE THE LINES COMMING. IM 140 LBS and fit in the seat and dont really touch the bolsters!! Our leather feels very thin. I wil do a littl research on products to prevent it.

The Mercedes Benz standard seat material is called MB Tex & to give you an idea how well it holds up, a friend has a 1984 190E (BBS, Zender, KONI, Recaro, project car) and the MBTex is flawless, still.

Soft as a glove, dig it.

Oh, for relevant content, Lexol works great!

+1 for the 140lb club!

Ive got 5500 miles on my 2011 and its starting to crease significantly. Haven't ever put any conditioner on them though. The passenger seat looks almost perfect compared to the driver's, since I'm riding solo 95% of the time these days...

I'll take some pictures of mine tomorrow if I remember.

I put on 6000 km in a little more than 2 months. The perforated leather on the seat cushion is stretched. I don't think it will shrink back either. At least I can't see it while I am driving.

In comparison, the perforated leather in my 1G didn't stretch a bit after 7 years but I have to say the seat in the 1G wasn't as comfortable.

Will use Lexol in the Spring to clean all the seats. It's too darn cold right now.

Its interesting you mention that. I was just thinking the other day that I would much rather have something like MBTex over the cheap leather we get. Sure its marginally less soft but you cant argue with the durability and easy maintaince of it (which is bascially no maintantce )

I bet 99 out of 100 Mercedes owners think they have leather, and a portion of them will tell you you're crazy for suggesting MB doesn't offer leather standard.

The car I'm talking about was a joint project with the companies listed above, it has a Calloway turbo setup and the MBTex is covering Recaros. Pretty cool little car, wayyyyy ahead of it's time.

The creases look worse because of dirt. Use a product like Leatherique or LeatherMasters Strong Cleaner to give the seats a good scrub. While that won't remove the creases, it will minimize the appearance of the creases and restore the matte luster of the leather.

MB-Tex (referred to as MB-Taxi in Europe - causing the name change to Artico) is plain old vinyl. It feels fine in the summer but gets hard as a board in the winter and no longer feels anything like leather.

While BMW also offers leatherette as standard, virtually every car on a dealer's lot has the premium package which includes leather, finding a MB E350 or C class with leather is virtually impossible.

Sorry, I didn't mean sit on the bolsters like when you're driving; but a lot of people sit on them getting in and out of the car, and that's all it takes to crease the crap out of them (and tear the leather up). My drivers side lower bolster had light crease lines in it when i took delivery with 4 miles on the odometer, must have been from a previous test drive or when it went in for pre-delivery prep.

We pay a premium for Zaino and Leatherique here, it's much cheaper in the states! They're the best though.

I use a Malco leather treatment cream every few weeks, more often on the driver's seat and it keeps the leather looking like new and minimizes the inevitable creases on the seat bolsters. I get it from my Acura Dealer, whose Parts Manager only sells products has tested on her own cars. Ditto for Malco's spray Showroom Shine. Easy to use on the exterior, looks great and protects.

Malco appears to be a product developed for the auto body/dealership industry and probably isn't good for leather.

In general, cleaner/conditioners aren't good as you should always clean first, then condition (or the other way around if using Leatherique) but combos can't do both well.

Just a pinch over 600 miles on my 2012 TSX... Here's how my driver seat is looking without any maintenance.

It's stretching a little... seems fairly normal for all leather but it's so ANNOYING! Am I the only one bothered by this kinda stuff?
