So I need to service my transmission and was wondering if i should flush the transmission with a machine through the cooler lines or drain and fill the transmission 3 times. Car was sitting for about 4 years. I bought the car at 80xxxkms flushed the transmission through the cooler lines. Then the car sat for about 4 years, I did start the engine once a month to keep everything in best order it can while its sitting. Now im at 150xxx kms and transmission needs to be serviced. Im kinda hesitant to flush it throught the cooler lines due to it sitting for so long. When I go to flush this time i might loosen up anything and it might make the transmission fail. any suggestions ?

 

This verges on a necro-post, but I just found it. The common prevailing opinion is that a Honda (Acura) transmission should only be drained and filled...never flushed. I have always abided to this and have never had an issue with any Honda transmission in my fleet...past or present. I also use MaxLife Full Synthetic ATF in all my Honda / Acura transmissions.
