driver's side b-pillar / above the window rattle

very recently, my car had developed a nasty rattle that appears to be coming from driver's side B-pillar and the air bag strip between B- pillar to A-pillar. I am guessing that it is somewhere in area between the two pillars, but closer to the B-pillar - perhaps between the o-handle and the B-pillar. the rattle usually comes up when driving on rough surfaces, recently, even when shutting the doors closed.

has anyone tackled this before? Any idea what do look for? Since there is an airbag, I am not sure how safe it would be to work on that area on my own? any safety precautions? Could it be the side air bag itself, or some kind of mounting, or clip?

I appreciation any suggestions
Thank you

I have a random noise coming from roughly the same area as well... haven't had the time to deal with it yet though

Often time that noise is actually the seat belt retractor or the "oh shit" handle above the door. Here is a link for the emergency services datasheet. While it is in German it may be useful as it identifies the location of the various airbag systems. Pick the Accord Tourer 2008+ datasheet

Hate to be the one digging up old posts, but did you ever find a solution? This has just started to drive me nuts.

How certain are you guys about the location of the rattle?

My driver side door panel has a screw that backs out after so long from tightening it. Took me a long time to figure out where it was coming from.

Mine has a noise in the same area. But only in cold weather (below about 40°F) and when the inside of the car is cold. Sounds like a wire slapping against the headliner.

Since this is my wife's car and it is still under warranty (CPO), i might take it to the dealer to have them look at this early next year. We are way to busy to deal with dealers and waste time now.

Does the noise stop when you pull down on the roof grab handle?

Yeah, it's not the grab handle - ruled that out. Nothing to do with the seat belt retractor either. Probably need to go above the headliner to find it, but it doesn't bother me THAT much ... yet.

I hear some rattles when driving over a rough patch of road, or when the subwoofer hits some frequencies. Rattles are more pronounced in the mornings when its below 55. They probably wouldn't annoy most people, but the music listening experience is a huge part of my life, and it's in the car that I get to do it without interruptions ... besides these occasional rattles.

I've yet to trace them, but I've been thinking of sound-deadening the roof and pillars. Just gotta work up some courage and find the time to do the job. Doors, trunk and rear-deck have already been done. I also eliminated some rattles from the window switch areas by stuffing some soft cotton-like material under the window switches.
