Dose anyone be able to tell me what exactly engine pinging sound like? I see a lot of posts regarding engine pinging for 09 model.

 

My is 09 model. If possible my car is free of pinging? I read a lot of pinging issues, especially for 09 model. I really canot tell does my car really pinging? Can anyone kindly decribe me how pinging sound like, when will be most happen and will I be able to hear when car is idel? Please

 

i actaully dont know how it sounds like beacse i dont think my car has it, it is 09 as well. maybe ur car, like mine, are the lucky ones with no pinging. other members stated that it would be really obvious to notice, so i guess your fine!

Whether you notice it or don't notice it, it's not an issue or problem you should be worried about.

 

It's been described as sounding like a ball-bearing or something metal rattling around in a tin can and it occurs mostly around 3k rpm.

 

hrmm yea.. i've wondered what it sounds like.. cuz i never heard it either... i got cbp, 09, but maybe because i bought my car late last year ... in october of 09, u think they already fixed the problem?

 

according to TSB, it apply to all 09 model and early 10 model. hopefully we are just few of lucky guys. ^.^

How can you make a video of pinging? Pinging is a sound. In any case I would imagine the pinging is not loud enough to catch on the audio of any standard video recorder. Just keep the radio off and listen. If you hear any pinging get the TSB fix, problem solved.

 

i think what i mean is that..... while you are driving you can try to record the sound or better yet if you have a phone with a video cam... or a passenger can record the video and or the road that you are driving... i think one way or the other you can hear that sound.... on the video clip... peace just trying to make my pointless sense...

No prob dude. I'm sorry if I sounded rude. The pinging drove me crazy for 6 months until it was fixed. Anyways I think it would be very difficult to record.
