Angry Brakes squeals very badly on car

My 09 TSX has a very bad squealing on the driver rear side and the car has about 8000 miles. Brakes are working fine, however, every time I step on the brakes, it squeals like a mad pig on crack. Think it's worth the trouble to bring it into the dealer? I'm worried their "fix" will be turning the rotors, which can cause more problems down the road for me (warp rotors, etc).

If you don't want to take it to the dealer, then what do you propose as a solution?

I'd just take it to the dealer with only 8K on them.

I called the dealer and they told me its normal on the TSXs and not to worry about it.

I think Ill talk to the salesman that sold me the car, he should be more helpful. I don't wanna haveto turn up the radio so i don't hear the squeaking.

It's never "normal" for your brakes to squeak. It's only normal when they need to be replaced/repaired.

Everything is "normal" when it comes to an Acura TSX. I have to go to the dealer an average of three times before an issue is fixed. Do they really think their product is that good? Never again!

Geez, anyway, yeah, squeaking brakes are not normal (unless they're Brembo GT's with coolstop pads and the car is totally cold like in the morning.)

If you've already sent in your sales survey, your salesman won't be of much use but it's worth a try. Tell the service advisor you'd like for one of his guys to look at it as it's not normal & offer an 'excellent' survey for his efforts.

I took my TSX in way too many times already for "minor" noises. I don't have the time to take my car in every two months, etc., but if there is a fix (like replacing parts that are defective) then I'll go to a good dealership for the fix. I just don't like quick fixes like turning the rotors since that wears and eats up the brake parts prematurely.

Btw, the noise is loud, and it squeals the whole time that I have the brake pedal depressed.

Maybe they don't use synthetic caliper grease at the dealer...how about possibly stopping by a brake shop and have them grease the shims. Or maybe different pads. I agree...not normal...and very annoying and should be handled at the dealer but sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands and if you love that car that can't include turning it in.

My brakes have been squealing as well. I finally got tired of it and ordered some ATE Premium One ceramic brake pads from the Tire Rack and now my brakes are QUIET! Total investment including shipping was around $60.00.

I never had this issue on my TSX, but my wife's jeep's brakes used to do this right after a fresh pair of pads were put on. To silence the accusations that I did something wrong (i do my own brake work). I went down to the local auto parts store and picked up some brake pad lubricant. I don't remember the exact brand I used, but this stuff looks to be the same stuff.

I wouldn't waste your time going to a dealership or brake shop without trying some kinda silicone lubricant out first. If the problem still persists, then I'd def go to the dealership and slap the shit outta the guy that told you it is normal. I'd tell him that there is no well in hell that the sound of a "squealing pig" should ever be a normal sound coming from a supposed luxury brand car that costs over $30k. Tell him if you wanted to buy a piece of shit, you would have just purchased a Kia.

Just my $.02

Was having the same problem. Have about 12,000 miles on the car. Took it in last week and service rep said Acura knows there's an issue so they ended up replacing the front pads, rotors and calipers. No more squeal.

yo, patcracks

I got the same issue with my car. It's 09 TSX with 23k on it, and it started squealing very loud when I'm not braking. Acuras are supposed to be quality cars, I'm not sure what's going on.
If you find a fix, please share. I't embarrasing to even drive the car now. I was thinking it could possibly be the anti-rattle templates scraping up against the rotors but I didn't get a chance to check it out yet.

my start suealing around 5K. it was two front brakes. I took it to dealer ask them not resurface my rotors what so ever, b/c four rotors were replace at 1K due to vibration. They end up change two front new pads under warranty. Now is 8.2K. not heard of it.

Just saw this article tonight. Sorry for no link. Type the title in a google search; NY Times had the article. Print and take it in to the dealer.

Dang, unfortunately this happened to me last friday, and it squeals like NO OTHER!!!! So after reading the article, im still a little confused. Is it the actual brake pads that are defective?? Because my friend with an 08 accord said she had the same problem and got her pads replaced, but she says the problem is returning.

I found a coupon at firestone for $50 off with a $50 online rebate for 4-wheel service which covers resurfacing rotors, inspection of brake components, and installation of new Wagner Thermo-Quiet brake pads. So I'm contemplating whether I should get this fixed or will the problem just return anyways??
