Auto transmission "click" between R and D
Auto transmission "click" between R and D
I'm really hoping someone will tell me this is either "normal" or will go away after the car breaks in more... but here's what I've noticed on my new car.
I purchased a 2010 TSX V6 about 3 weeks ago. I don't drive it too often, as I work from home and it's the "second" car. It only has about 200 miles on it.
Ever since the day I brought it home from the dealership, I've noticed that when I shift the transmission from Reverse to Drive, about a second or two later, I hear an obvious "CLICK" that comes from the car. It's definitely not the doors locking automatically. I'm pretty sure it makes the sound when going from Drive back to Reverse also. It's just a sound that I'm hearing -- functionality-wise everything seems okay. There's no delay on the shift or anything like that. Just the obvious CLICK sound.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is it normal? Has it stopped? Did it require a trip to the service department? Man, I really don't want to have to deal with transmission work on a brand new car.
I still need to really get out and experiment with it to nail down exactly when the noise happens so I can better define it. I don't always notice it.
Anyway, any comments or feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks for the replies.
I also found a couple of threads in the latest generation TL forums discussing the same issue.
Given what was written over there and what the comments posted here have said, I'm going to just accept that it's just the way it is.

trans gears
alright tsx owners.. all auto transmissions will need a second or two to engage. from P to R or from whatever gear to the next gear, it is the cable movement to the next gear and then click to engage to the gear u want to be in. that's all.
even stick shifts, from 1st to 2nd gear you will hear a click . that means YOU ARE IN the right spot!
