Another Bug: the [lack of] the Beep when the Lock Button is Pressed Twice

So yeah, I have discovered another little wonderful bug with my car: the beep when you press the lock button twice sometimes works now, and sometimes doesn't. And no, it's not because it is too quiet and I had discovered it the other day when standing right next to my car. If I started the car and/or put the key to On it would come back the next time I locked it, but then a few times later it would disappear again. Nothing was changed in the MID setting and I confirmed that it was still set to on in there. There seems to be no rhyme or reason or pattern to it and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Really, I am not too concerned with this at all but I wanted to report it in case some of you have experienced it also. And quite honestly, while I have enjoyed the car thus far, I don't really think it's for me long-term and I think that I just may unload it after the winter...if I do so, that would be the shortest amount of time I've ever owned a car.

Well I'm with you, thinking about letting go after the winter, which would be sad because I really enjoy this car. If only there were no problems.

As far as the beep, now I have to listen better. There are times that I feel that maybe it didn't beep or I just didn't hear it. If only there was an adjustment to make it as loud as the TL....

The TL is definitely louder, I had a loaner this weekend and noticed it immediately.

IMHO the issue isn't a "bug" with car but rather the questionable / crappy design of the remote. For example, the buttons are too small; good luck getting it to operate well if you have even moderately thick fingers.

I also had a TL loaner and noticed it was noticably louder. The beep also came from the rear of the car. I wonder if that module can be swapped into the TSX.....

You know, I didn't even think about that, it does seem like it came from the back...

mm I like the quiet beep. its why I picked it over the short beep. If it was any louder i'd be upset lol. I can hear it just fine from the entire range of my key fob. Well natually unless its noisy outside.

Yeah, it is pretty ginormous. I kinda liked the one piece key/fob on my 07 Si.

Then again, those guys want the iPhone size swithcblade key from our cars.

I realized lately that my car would no longer beep or flash the lights when I pressed the lock button twice. I double-checked the MID but the setting for the confirmation was still ON.

After doing some research on the internet, it looks like there is some sort of diagnostic process that takes place before the beep/flash. If there is some sort of problem with the locking or alarm process, then the beep/flash will not occur. Examples would be if the trunk or hood were not completely closed, or if a bad door lock actuator were preventing one of the doors from locking.

I checked the trunk and hood, and made sure all the doors were locking. All good.

Eventually I found the problem. When I installed a dashcam recently I was poking around in the passenger fuse box looking for an ignition-switched fuse. I had pulled the fuse for the passenger side power window and forgot to replace it. Re-installing the power window fuse fixed the issue. The locking confirmation had returned.
