ABS/ VSA light randomly comes on while driving

ABS/ VSA light randomly comes on while driving

Hi all, hoping someone could help or if not this can help others while I figure this out.

I have a 2010 TSX with about 110,000 miles.

While driving, lately every time the VSA /ABS light comes on randomly sometimes right away and stays on. Could be 10 minutes later or 20 min later or right away.

I did the jumper test to grab codes from my dash and ended up giving too much codes so I got the code scanner.

Codes are
12,13,14,16,18,61
  • 12-01 Lateral Acceleration Sensor Malfunction
  • 13-01 LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR OPEN CIRCUIT
  • 14-01 Lateral Acceleration Sensor Neutral Position
  • 16-01 RIGHT REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FAILURE
  • 18-01 LEFT REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FAILURE
  • 61-01 Low Battery Voltage

It's a little weird to me that all of these codes appear at once. I'm guessing one thing is throwing this off.

I find it hard to believe 3 of my wheel sensors went out at the same time.

Have anyone else experienced this issue? Or have any suggestions?

perhaps the "low battery voltage" is a clue....

Nope have a few month old batter outputting a good 15 -16 volts when started. Unless it drops while driving

Clear all those codes out and go for a ride. When the VSA /ABS light comes back on, rescan and see which code comes back. Hopefully you get just one code and thats were you start to diagnose from. You can unplug the connectors for all those sensor & check for corrosion. Corrosion can cause low battery voltage within the VSA /ABS circuits and will trip a fault within the system. Based on the codes you posted it would seems to me the Lateral Acceleration Sensor Malfunction may be the culprit.

Thanks Evo9,

So I deleted all the codes and scanner the car again with all the codes cleared and it gave me one code now for the front left wheel sensor. This sounds better to me. I will replace this and hopefully fixes this issue.

For anyone that comes across this issue.

The issue was due to one bad sensor, not sure why the car started throwing so many codes. Maybe I waited to long.

All in all the issue is fixed after clearing all the codes and rescanning.
