2014 tsx

helping a family member purchase a cpo 2014 tsx with about 15000 miles. The technician's cpo report states front brakes are at 8 mm and rear brake pads are at 7 mm. The front rotors are at 27.8 and rear rotors are at 10.9 mm. Are the rear brakes below 50 percent? Shall we ask for new rear brakes and rotors?

I don't recall ever seeing back calipers/rotors as big as fronts. Weight transfer would put far more braking onto the front wheels. I have seen in my research however, that it seems the rear pads wear more quickly than do the fronts. It defies logic, but I'm sure there's a valid reason. Maybe check the technical specs for some of these measurements. Craig

Factory rear discs are spec at 9mm thickness, They are solid rotors, not ventilated, which is why they are not as thick. The tech has actually measured the rears at thicker than stock. Perhaps previous owner had installed an aftermarket brake upgrade.
