2012 strange not starting in morning
Morning all, been checking the site out for some time just never signed up.
My wife drives a 2012 TSX wagon, been a fantastic car so far with almost no issues.
This week when coming out to start car in the morning, turn the key and no cranking. All lights come on as normal, everything is working just not cranking, no noise, no clicking...nothing.
Turn key off try again and same thing. On third try it starts up perfectly.
She never has the problem again the rest of the day no matter how long or little it sits or is driven.
I really have no idea on this one. I replaced the battery about 2-3 months ago but other than that nothing else has changed.
Any ideas on this one? I went out and tried it this morning and same thing.
Thanks
Bryan

The only thing I can think of is some sort of corrosion on the starter/solenoid terminal OR a bad solenoid. I'd disconnect the power cables to the starter first. Clean them with a brass or steel brush and spray some solvent on them, then reconnect.

Ok spent a little time on the car this weekend. Took the protective cap off the positive battery cable and had some corrosion there. Cleaned it all up really well, but problem persisted Sunday morning.
Since it only does it in the morning it's hard to duplicate the problem during the day.
This morning I tried to start the car before I left for work. This time I held the key in the start position to see if anything would happen. 2-3 second later the car started just fine, but there were no clicks or other noises...just a delayed start.
I'm used to working on older American built cars and when there is a problem with a starter it more audible if that makes sense.
Thanks

What kind of battery did you replace it with? OEM Acura? I replaced (upgraded the size) my oem battery to the V6 size and ended up breaking the positive terminal. The positive terminal on the new battery barely fit snug. They Had to replace the terminal all together. Here are some photos: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-.../#post16076216
Do you have a second key to try? It only happens in the AM after the car has been sitting. It sounds like you are confident but make a warranty claim and swap the battery for piece of mind?
Try jumping it in the AM when you think it will have the problem to see if it is indeed a voltage/amp issue. Back to American cars, my old LS1 had a similar issue, the starter was too close to the headers and would not start after it cooled off without lots of swearing/attempts.

I'm with the second key theory. I wonder if the transponder in your key is failing, and not telling the car that the correct key is there. Your delayed start could be an indication that the transponder is taking its sweet time sending the signal. If the second key works fine, I am more confident in that assessment.

Check small wire to the starter for start signal (12v). If signal missing then starter cut relay, ignition electrical switch, or wiring fault.
If 12v start signal present, the bad starter.
good luck
