Our 09 TSX (Wife's car)

Here are few pics my wife's car. We bought it brand new with 2 miles on it... wrapped in plastic still... She now has about 15k miles on it. We may have been one the first to buy one in Louisville, KY.

Upgrades have been minimal.

Tint was the very first thing.

We didn't buy the navigation package, but instead upgraded the speaker system by dropping in a PowerBass setup using component set up front, replaced the empty speaker holes in the back door with 6 1/2s and also the deck 6 1/2s. We left the free air sub in place. We then had steel bracket plates mounted to the bottom of the driver and passenger seat up front to which we attached a pair of Aura Bass Shakers. Running the setup is the stock head unit and an addon PowerBass 50 watt amp. It doesn't have to blast your ears off to hear the bass now due to the bass shakers.

I modded the air induction setup right away with a homemade SRI using PVC pipe and barrel style K&N filter. It still has a mount point for the MAF sensor. Out of the box, the 09 seems to feel different on acceleration and gear change compared to the 1st generation TSXs. Making this mod, made it act more like the 1st gen, but look like the new 2nd gen style that we like so much better.

Final mod was adding a set of 18" Momo RWS Chrome rims wrapped with Falken 452s.

Very Nice.... a drop would do it a lot of good.
It seems that you have the aftermarket side skirt on as well. You have any pictures of the audio setup?

Oh yeah... I forgot about that... we purchased the rear spoiler wing and side skirts from the Acura dealership too. They are factor parts, not aftermarket. We didn't like the front or rear bumper style they offered. They were a bit too much in our mind and we felt that after adding flashy chrome rims, it might be overkill.

I agree, dropping it a bit would look better. Not sure I could convince her to do that though. Took her a year to pick out rims... really it did.

Check this thread out for pics :

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-problems-fixes-145/sluggish-auto-transmission-769240/

Basics :

- section of 3 inch PVC pipe
- 1 inch T pvc pipe
- JB Weld
- large wire tie
- 1 inch door hole drill bit
- K&N large barrel filter
- adjustable hose clamp

I drilled a 1 inch hole in the PVC pipe. Then trimmed a ring of pipe from the 1 inch T-pipe. After sanding and smoothing, the ring inserts into the PVC pipe where I put the initial hole. The MAF sensor fits inside the ring near perfect.

The JB Weld sets the ring in solid. Once fully curred, I was able to sand the whole setup smooth. Seal the open ends of the setup and spray paint your choice of hi-temp paint.

Assemble everything and strap down the MAF with the wire tie, being careful not to crimp the wires. Some may say it looks ghetto-style, but I don't think its too bad and was a lot cheaper than buying aftermarket... of course aftermarket didn't even exist at that particular time when we bought the vehicle new.

nice work! when you filled the holes in the rear doors with speakers, did you find that they were pre-wired already?

No pics of the Audio setup. Really can't see much of it anymore. The only parts you can see now are the amp in the back and if you look closely, you can see a peek of the bass shakers. Probably should have asked them to take photos of the sound install while it was happening I suppose.

Can't remember for certain... what you will find is a white foam insert in place of a speaker... the install shop was surprised as we were when we found out that there wasn't a speaker behind the speaker grille. Should be easy enough for you to confirm though. I bet it is there given they at least put the speaker grille there. Makes for an easy upgrade for the dealership... drop in a new navi head unit and back speakers... done... oh and 1400 out of your pocket.

Personal taste... everyone definitely has different tastes for sure. All that said, she is pleased... thats what counts for me in the end. I will say this much.. they do little for performance. These things way something like 55 lbs a piece!

Those are some tasteful mods! Car looks great.

I'm surprised the momo's are that heavy, especially considering momo's involvement in motorsport

Thanks! Odd thing is that we see a lot of TSX's rolling but few have the wing spoiler, let alone aftermarket rims. What really makes her smile is when she gets the 2nd and 3rd look from guys driving Bimmer 5 and 6 series.

I agree, I was surprised too. Well compare that to the Momo Corse S-Five's that I have... which are about 5 lbs lighter than the stock 17" Si rims my car came with... so about 17lbs each roughly thereof. So I guess it depends on the application.

No sound dampening installed. I asked them about that during the install. They indicated that if we were dropping in a custom sub box or something.. maybe then. However we kept the stock free-air sub, and only swapped out the other speakers and added the bass shakers and small amp. Pretty certain the rear amp is only powering the rear door speakers and the bass shakers. The rest is powered by the head unit. The whole install and plate fabrication/setup for the bass shakers ran us a total of about 800 bucks. Some might say overpriced, I don't know. In the end, we were happy with the job. I have had other installs by other places and they do poor jobs... visible wires etc. I asked them to make it a clean install and near stock appearance as possible, and they did just that.

Rear doors on Tech models are not pre-wired. Wiring harnesses for the Tech vs Navi are different. Most guys that have put speakers in the rear doors of non-Tech models will split the rear deck speaker signal wires and run it to the doors.

As a female I know how she feels. I also love it when they find out my tsx is 6MT with over 100,000 miles on it. They compliment me on how nice my car looks. Since it is my car-my husband has his motorcycles and other toys-I take 100% care of it.

What do I drive... something not as sexy as her TSX... an Honda Civic Si 07 sedan. Lots more info on it it here. My new hobby is AutoX racing, which the TSX would never even be considered for. I suggested once as a joke, she didn't laugh.
