My 2009 Basque Red Pearl TSX
Hey Acurazine, here are some pics of my Basque Red Pearl 2009 TSX Non-Tech. I bought this car Feb 2012 with about 11,xxx miles. It currently has 36,xxx miles and since I purchased it I have done a few mods.
As part of a short introduction, I am not new to cars. I used to professionally install mobile audio/video equipment while in college and now I am an engineer. I have been working on cars since the age of 5 and throughout the years have modded every car I have owned.
Here is my car history:
1) 1990 Toyota Cressida - Rebuilt the 7MGE engine in my garage in 2001 due to a spun rod bearing. Sold in 2002 for car #2
2) 1998 Acura Integra LS Sedan - owned this car from 2002 to 2007 and sold it after I bought car #3 after college.
3) 2001 Honda Prelude Base - added a ton of OEM accessories to this car. This car was extremely fun to drive…hugged the road really well (coming from a 1998 LS Integra, it's a given). Sold this car before buying car #5.
4) 2000 Honda Civic EX Coupe - bought as a pure project car. Ground up restoration including full paint, replacing broken OEM parts, swapped a 2000 Acura Integra GSR engine and goodies from a parts car I bought. Sold this car when I moved out of FL in late 2012.
5) 2009 Acura TSX Non-tech - current daily driver.
OK, enough talking, on to some pics.
1) Car #3 & #4 together
2) Car #3
4) Car #4
5) 2009 Acura TSX when purchased in Feb 2012.
6) First mod was installing Llumar CTX (Nano-Ceramic) 40% Tint All Around
7) Then the cheap paint the dealer used to respray the front bumper started peeling off. So I bought the front sport bumper.
8) Then I found a deal on 2011 TSX take off wheels ($700 full set with tires). Out with the old 09 wheels and in with the 2011 wheels.
- 2009 Wheels
- 2011 Wheels
9) Road trip mode. I have no clear bra and don't want one. I have had no issues with this setup with over 15K+ highway miles in the past year.
10) When my car was in service I had a 2012 TSX w/ Tech Package as a loaner. Loved the backup camera and the navigation. I had a Pioneer Avic D3 from my old Prelude laying around so the idea began.
11) Out with the old radio.
12) In with the Avic using all OEM parts. No knock off parts, complete harness with no splicing and using factory amp and integrated with the steering wheel controls.
13) Random pic from a hotel room.
14) The my front rotors decided to warp.
15) So I swapped in Power Slot slotted rotors (cryogenic roots in front; standard in rear) with Hawk HPS pads all around.
16) As it sits right now.
So thats pretty much what I have done to this point. Planning on getting the rest of the sport body kit (rear bumper and side skirts) late this year. Contemplating the sport steering wheel, shift knob, lip spoiler, intake, exhaust. I might spring for the CT Engineering Supercharger late next year (2014). Hopefully CT will be still making the kit in late 2014.

Was pretty straightforward to sync the steering wheel controls. I lost the factory bluetooth but with my Avic, I had a bluetooth module so I just used that one.

Yup it's a Honda double din frame. Looks like someone posted pics to the part number above. I have two extra frames, mounting brackets, and harnesses that I had my brother in-law ship me last year when I ordered this. I was going to keep one in case I can convince my wife to get a TSX Wagon (still working this ) and one for friend who eventually flaked out. If you are really interested, just PM me. Not looking to make this a F/S thread but willing to help a fellow TSXer out.

Then you add the cost of any double din you want and accessories like backup camera, steering wheel control module, etc. The big benefit to this is that you don't have to pay the 2-3K extra for a tech package...more like 1/2 that if you can keep the cost of the double din down. The advantages you get with this is a cleaner dash (less buttons), potential for a touch screen, and that it's more of a personal touch. One other point I considered is that for Pioneer nav systems you can get upgraded maps pretty cheap (I think I got the 2012 map dirt cheap on eBay). If you do this, you won't regret it. I would do it all over again without a second thought.

Wow, that does look awesome. I honestly wanted a VBP at first but when I saw this color in person I couldn't pass it up. In the sun it really stands out.
