Mr. NC's Build Thread
Yes I know they stand out lol BECAUSE RACECAR....they're starting to grow on me. I understand the whole paint them black idea. I am tempted to spray paint them blue as ed said. Honestly the front of the car is the only place I have colour lol. I was not expecting that lower grille placement to look good tbh
If they were smaller, they wouldn't sound as loud me thinks. 4 horns is just bad.
But Wait!
There's More!

The End

So that other mystery box came in a week ago and when I saw it I knew something was up LOL

Now I'm sure most of you know I've tried the m5 roof spoiler route which didn't fit go figure and I have a blatant distaste for the ski jump roof spoiler. (No offense to anyone who has it on the forum) I just think it doesn't flow with the back of the car. Having said that what you are looking above is the PROJECT 10K spoiler. The priciest one so far available thats available stateside anywayz. I was expecting frp or fiberglass but when I saw that shit I started to have doubts. I took it to my paint guy and he said that since its a hard rubber (think hockey pucks) but obviously more malleable, the wing would sag on the paint prep bench thing or w/e which would mean the spoiler would cause the paint to crack. He said something about it having too much flex paint( not sure of proper term). So I am now stuck here with a spoiler thats unpaintable. I'm going to contact the seller to see what's up. If you guys have had experience in this holla at cha boy.
Some random fitment pics I took today just to see...what coulda been.

Obviously it's not held down by 3m so don't go telling me it doesn't fit lol...The fitment was SOOOO GOOOD TOOO WHAT THE FAAAAAAAAACK

Hey, my paint guy kinda said the same thing to me about it flexing and causing the paint to crack... but he said that if I attempted it by myself then that would happen. He assured me though that his shop could do it correctly without cracking, talked about having the piece painted with a specialty base coat thats more flexible and painting in the correct temperature etc etc... This is why when I got quoted $250 for my lip I was hesitant but I know my guy will do a great job and when it's all said and done it will be correct.
My advice for now. Heat up your spoiler and shape it to almost perfection before it gets painted that way there will be minimum flexing and bending when trying to install it.

It's as flat as it'll go but it's still flexes. The seller said flex paint/polyurethane paint for it. My paint guy mentioned that also and he said no guarantees. One suggestion was that the spoiler gets mounted to the window and it gets painted on there so there's no chance it will sag or crack or w/e. Seems like alotta trouble tho. Or he suggested I just spray paint it black...yuck...I gotta decide eventually. This car yo...unmoddable lol going to trade it in for a Scion FR-S
Yeah this is the Project 10k spoiler. I thought I'd give it a try cuz noone else has it on. But for $150+ I was like WTF I didn't expect this.
This would be my 2nd attempt at a roof spoiler, I don't think it was meant to be lolololol.
The ebay seller told me that flexing is a concern that many buyers have with this wing apparently. They mount it then mask it then paint it. This is proly going to be complicated and cost me money. I'll talk to my paint guy if he's down. I am praying to the almighty Jesus that if I do this and have it mounted that the 3m will make it keep form.

It's too flexible apparently, the paint would just crack after it gets painted since that wouldn't stop it from moving. The amount of base prep paint or w.e. it's called is too much too. Like I said I need to speak to my paint guy again. I have a Project 10k roofspoiler just chilling on my bedroom floor NBD
Haha yeah I really wanted colour matched but since we dont(can't) use Polyurethane paint in Canada, water based paint would just crack on it since its so flexible. I did not wanna plastidip that, so that left me with vinyl. Used 3m 1080 scotchbrite or w/e its called, looks different from 3m Di-Noc. Real easy to use and it turned out ok.
As far as fitment is concerned, my shop guy did a great job making it bend to the contours of the windshield. No gaps on either side, it's literally "perfect"
No faraway pics atm, I'm just relieved it's finally on, this spoiler took waaaaaay too long. Then again I think every mod I did on this car got delayed in someway or another
I am glad you got it to work for you though dude! Way to keep at it and not let it keep you down! Sweet wrap job and can't wait to see more angles!
Maybe CF your roof next to keep the flow? Might not suck

The wrap job didn't take too long surprisingly enough which was good. I'm not sure bout the CF roof altho I like the contrast as is.

Even on my black tint, the CF wrap stands out but not overly so which is what I like
I don't have them installed anymore because LED replacement bulbs used in this application just aren't bright enough as stock OEM bulbs safety 1st! Having said that I used 7440 SMD LED (40 bulb type proly?) They are the same ones used in my reverse lights tho.
I am back from the Dominican Republic!
