Kinda sorta new but not really
Hi Guys,
Im Bryan and although this is my first TSX its not my first Honda/Acura. In fact its my first Honda daily in about 3 years and second Acura in 5 years. I spend most of my time on this forum in the Southeast region thread (The Official Charlotte, NC post). The past 3 years I have owned nothing but Subaru's and I thought it would be time to get back to my roots only because my last WRX was a POS, not by choice and terrible circumstances. Anywho, I just picked up my 2010 TSX the other day. Its a CBP 6 speed and to me its a rare find. Goals for this car will be performance driven...I've done the stance thing in the past and it just doesnt do it for me anymore.
I'll post pics as soon as I start modding it but as for now its very much stock. I've got many questions!

Subaru doesnt have an open recall on the ECU or wiring harness but do have open bulletins. This kind of issue could be multiple causes, ECU, wiring harness, fuel pump, fuel filter, camshaft position sensor, coil packs, injectors, etc. It didnt make sense to throw money and parts to try and chase an issue like this and the extended warranty I got for the car covered none of these issues. So long story short, my dealer bought the car back and we had this really nice TSX that I had to get. People think Im crazy getting rid of a performance car for an Acura but Ive had it for a few days now and its fantastic. Ive only ever owned automatic Hondas and Acuras and this 6 speed feels great! I can take what I applied to Subaru and make this car pretty fun but the one thing I will miss is the awd system.

hmmm interesting perspective. I almost traded my 09 for a 2011 STi about a year ago... but I made the mistake of talking performance and I think the subaru owner got scared and decided not to trade... oh well.
I'm actually very much excited to get rid of my TSX!

Wheels and tires will be ordered in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Decided to go with another set of Konig Hypergram's in bronze instead of matte gray. Size will be 18 x 9.5 +35, square setup all the way around. Tires I'm still unsure about. I was given a great deal on the BFG Sport Comp 2's in 245/40's but still have other sizing and brand options.
Gray Hypergram's on my old RS in 17 x 8 +40

And Gray Hypergram's in 18 x 10.5 +25. The wider you get the more concave which I like and still able to clear brembo's or other BBK's

And for reference a terrible cell phone photoshop image of what I want it to look like

So yesterday I scrapped the Konig wheel choice and ordered some JNC 033 (NT03 reps). The ones I ordered are matte black but will be getting them powder coated and really nice color that should go great against the black. They will be the same size as the Hypergram's at 18x9.5 +35 just a little on the heavy side.
Also picked up a new small addition at a show yesterday. Its my second AP (Avenue Performance) shift knob in burnt titanium. It has a really good weight to it at 503 grams (1.1 lbs) and feels really good in the hand.

Wheels came in and were painted Blue Slate Pearl which is an OEM Infiniti color from the G/M37's. It's a really pretty color that looks blue in direct sunlight but turns gray in shadows. They're being paired with 24/40/18 Nankang NS-20's for now (working a deal with a guy at work on a different set of brand new tires).

So I feel its time I updated this thread.
I went ahead and ordered some Yonaka coilovers from a member off Honda-tech. Got a super great deal on a brand new set for $480 because the box was damaged in transit. This is my second set of Yonaka's, my first set being on my first EF civic sedan 3 years ago. These are the Spec 2's which come with 28 way dampening and for the most part are pretty comfortable. Coils are an 1 1/2 from being maxed out and the fronts are set at 20 stiffness and the rears are probably around 14-16 Im guessing. They ride similar to stock but slightly stiffer and just soaks up the bumps. I may bump the front stiffness up a little more though.
As for the wheels, the fronts sit exactly where I want them to be at -1.8 degrees but the rear without camber arms is -4.6 degrees. The plan is to order the rear arms, raise the rear maybe 1/4 inch and bring the camber back to around -2-2.5 degrees.

Has it really been nearly 6 years since Ive updated this thread. A lot has happened, owned many cars, sold those cars and now Im back to a single car still in the Honda/Acura family. In fact this car is so similar to the TSX that if you squint really hard and from 150 ft away it looks like the same car. Anyway, I currently own a 2012 Honda Civic Si and its being built as the perfect daily driver as well as a track weapon.
