Just installed HID Fogs!

I received my HID fogs in the mail today from ModExpress. They were originally $215.00 but I got them for $145 plus shipping which was Priority mail because of this code I used. I did it in the parking garage of my college since I was coming from the library. But anyways took about a hour to install both. They are 3000K and they look awesome. I only had my phone on me. Better pictures will be taken sometime this week.

check to make sure that the ballast is not grounding out on the body of the car, if not that, it could either be the bulb itself or the harness.

hmm I do know i didn't really secure the ballast since it was sort of annoying working on the right side since im right-handed and the there was little room to work with. so something might have got loose

holly retina burn! looks good, i hope it doesn't look that bright in real life, might affect on coming drivers. I have though about doing this to my 04 just haven't pulled the trigger. Maybe when one of my yellow bulbs burns out this will be route I go.

its not as bright or at least not that much glare in real life. but it sure makes everything a bit brighter but you don't notice it when your driving. the driving lights cover the yellow lights

very nice pictures! if your a lights and LED kind of person, you should start changing the bulbs on your car. its very simple and cheap. Look into changing your reverse lights, parking lights, license plate lights etc.

Did you have to remove the bumper to do this? Can you show us pics on how you installed the ballast and all? Thanks!

Hi, new guy from Australia here. Saw this thread and was wondering if someone can tell me where I can buy the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra lamps from. Can't seem to find them downunder.
If there's an online store that anyone's aware of it'd be real helpful.
I'm after their 9005SU, H11ST & 921ST for my 09 Accord Euro (aka Acura TSX).

Thanks

Its actually not that hard. I guess the only advice is to really make sure you connect the plug that comes from the HID ballast to your OEM plug very well since its hard to fit it in because of the rubber material around the plug to keep it waterproof.

I have had these installed over four months ago but if you refer to your manual on how to change the fog light bulb, its the same thing. The HID kit should be relatively straightforward.

and yes kowloon is in hk.

kowloonsniperhk, can you do a test with your HID kit for me? With your HID fog lights on can you switch your high beams on (which will turn off your fog lights) and then switch your high beams off (which will turn back on your fog lights). Do your HID fog lights reignited successfully after turning off your high beams? Can you do this repeatedly with success, like high beaming an oncoming car? I was just curious because I read somewhere that someone had an 09 TSX and couldn't get his HID's to reignited after activating and deactivating their high beams.

looks awesome, dont' take pictures so close to the paint >.< ( the tsx name plate picture ) The orange peel on our cars is so depressing, you pay $33,000 for a car, you'd hope they'd at least put a decent paint job on it.. but no.. so depressing ugh, take it down! it makes me cry everytime i think about how thats what my car looks like...

Besides that depressing point though, your car looks great and I'd love to do this as well to my vehicle, but i've read more bad things then good, like the above poster about the failure to turn back on and shit, and HID high beams is something i've been begging to do, i love how bright my low beams are but its always so depressing to turn ont he highs' i almost have no need for them ( i pretty much never turn them on ) .. does anyone know how to alter it so you can keep your fogs on when you turn your high beams on?

They're called "Ballasts". They connect to your headlight bulb plug and then the other end connects to your HID bulb. I don't know how it exactly works but they supply the correct electrical draw to the HID bulbs. Don't worry these things initially draw a lot of power but after they ignite they run at a lower power than your standard bulbs but they are somehow brighter!

My HID fogs works fine even after turning on my high beams. It works even when repeatedly doing it. I rarely turn on my high beams repeatedly. I usually turn them on when I hit patches of really dark spots in my area near my house.

Looks great...I think if people want to maintain the yellow LOOK though...I would recommend nokya bulbs. Also, raptor ddmtuning.com kits...39 bucks. I did those for my bumper fogs in my 04 TL and so far they're great.

Please go back and make sure everything is secure...all wiring is tied down and put some dielectic grease in the connections...this keeps the terminals from rusting/corroding and will keep you from headaches down the road...it's at the base of the bumper so rain and dirt are inevitable.

Great car bro!!! i was thinking about getting my Fog lights HID (3000k yellow). Do you recommend other brands of HID kit besides modexpress, where to buy one ie ebay, other websites? Is the $39.99 worth it or am i just wasting my money? Do you need a harness to install it? Thanks bro

Actually, now it's $29 with lifetime warranty. If you want yellow fogs though, I would recommend you do Nokya yellow thru ebay. Those bulbs are fine great, very yellow and less complex. Plus, if you have your fogs come one with your parking lights, you can have them flash on and off without affecting them like HID's.

Most retailers around here have them. I'm not so sure they're much better than OEM though and I've read some reviews saying these and the GE nighthawks burn out quickly.

Anyways, if you're still interested:

Yep...i can vouch for DDM Tuning...Great Prices! great kits!

I've bought three kits from them for my previous and current car

Bought an HID kit for my previous Audi, Benz and just recently purchased for my Integra about two months ago.

Their prices are great, it's worth spending on the slim ballasts and for a $60 dollar hid kit shipped with lifetime warranty, you can't go wrong. Their raptor kits start at $29...go for the DDM ones...they are much better. Just my two cents

Although a bit of forewarning, DDM's customer service sucks! I promise! the three times I've ordered, something always went wrong, (wrong ballasts, wrong bulbs, etc..and it takes them awhile to get your issues resolved since they lack good customer service)

I don't see a reason to buy the expensive one. The cheap ones fire, fire every time, and have never had any issues with them. For the money, get a backup kit instead...
And I've NEVER had issue with any of them including customer service or getting the wrong thing.
