im still trimming the fat tonight. hehe right now it looks bulky in the middle due to the extra layers styrofoam and bondo.

added more fiberglass in the middle for better fitment.
then layered it with bondo
i still have to trim and clean up parts of the lip with my dremel
then its just sanding, sanding, sanding

i agree. thats why i will be making a negative mold aka "master mold" so i can have 2-3 extra pieces in case it completely breaks. if it cracks its easily repairable.

here's an update
i have to put an indefinite hold on this project. i do not have the time at the moment since my wife just delivered a new born son so my priorities have changed. after 36 hours of labor he was accidently born in our kitchen floor. we were on our way to the hospital, i ran out to get the car for my wife, i walked back in to open the door and my wife squatting in a pool of blood holding our son in her arms. i called the paramedics and my wife and son were taken to the hospital. he's perfectly healthy and fine. so im a first time dad and its been a life changing event.
when i have more time, i will definitely come back and complete this project.
thanks all. to be continued....

heres a more detailed story
on 7/9/10, after 36 hours of early labor and irregular contractions between 5-12 minutes, we were on our way to the hospital and the baby decided to scare the crap out of us by coming out in our own kitchen home. my wife completely did not go through active labor NOR transition (pushing). i went to get the car, my wife was behind me coming down the stairs, as i opened the door to get my wife, i saw her squatting in a pool of her own blood holding our baby. for a split second i thought my wife was going to die due to all the blood loss and i thought my son was going to die because of the way he was born. my wife said she felt him coming out so she decided to squat and pull him out. with the rush of adrenaline, i ran to my wife and saw my son staring at me and suckling. i told my wife to breast feed on the spot and keep him warm with stimulation. i called 911 for the paramedics and they gave me instructions on what to do. i literally tied the umbilical cord with a shoe lace and made sure that my son's mouth and nose was clear so he can breath. the paramedics came in 5 minutes and took us to the hospital. he was born 12:09am. i went back home around 4am to clean up all the blood in our kitchen. i finished at 5am and as i was driving back to the hospital. i was at a stop light and just replayed all the events that had happened in my head and just broke down in happy tears and realized how lucky we were.
btw, our birth plan was to deliver in a hospital naturally and no medical intervention like epidurals, pitosin, c section, etc. we'd only consider those if it was really needed. well my wife got her wish.
its been two weeks and we're all fine now.
he's full term. 6 lbs 10oz 21in long
Kaidan Cole. im calling him "Kai" for short

My wife went through over 50+ hour labour for our first born, ended up delivery by forcep ( think giant salad tongs suction out). Glad to hear both your wife and son are doing well. Take good care of them and yourself too.
Congrats.

I am sure he has a baby carrier already, they won't let him leave the hospital without one.
The baby car seat (rear-facing) is good till 20lbs, then you move on to toddler forward facing (up to 40lbs), then last and not least, booster seats for kids up to 9 years older/ or weigh less than 80lbs.

Coming along nicely! have you thought about getting 3m clear bra instead of the deflector - cuz as you add more pieces such as the eye lids, grill, etc...then the lip - starting to look bulky with the hood deflector....just my thoughts - otherwise looking good!

Man, this car looks like it's ready to be entered into the Rose Parade or something. WTF are you doing, dude? All the time and energy you put into this crap could go towards your kid or something productive. What a waste...

i think you need to re-read my post above when my son was RECENTLY born.
i didnt have a kid when i first started this project. i am putting my time towards my kid which is why this project is on an indefinite hold.

He has HUGE eyes....so cute! Congrats! Reading about the birth story got my heart pumping! Way to keep cool calm and collected during that phase. I don't know how I would've reacted had I been presented with the same situation. More baby pics! Has he started walking yet?
