tips on how to cut the angled part?

was it done with a computer? or maximum skills?

razor? exacto? did you have a guide of any type?

 

Use vinyl masking tape for a better line. Have extremely steady hands.. A good sharp exacto knife and a nice cold beer

Check it.. What you want to do is to mask off the area first to make sure you have area defined. Then lay the CF vinyl over it creating the cut line you need since the line is defined underneath the vinyl. Once the vinyl is on and in place, trace the cut lines again with the masking tape on top of the CF vinyl and trim away

Constructive comment - revving in neutral is only part of the picture, throttle under load probably provides a more representative sample of the exhaust tone. Drive-by or in-car videos would probably be able to accomplish that.

is this the right technique in this thread ben? where he masks off with vinyl underneath and then cuts the vinyl on the car so it doesnt cut the car, and then he removes the tape and reheats the stretched vinyl?

i think 60" by 12" should be enough, doesnt look that wide in that area

 

I used 60" x 14" this morning and ended up cutting off quite a bit.

 

That's one way of doing it. But the diffuser is tricky because you don't have any body creases to set your cut line. I had to define the cut line first with tape. Cover with vinyl than use tape again to trace out the cut line underneath the vinyl.

The exhaust is loud.. Just glad it's not a DD otherwise, I would go deaf. On a side note, I underestimated my approach speed on an exit ramp this evening and almost lost it. Was very lucky that the RX slid predictably and got traction just in time before kissing the guard rails

Ben, just curious why did u go for a different thickness (40) on the front tire? Shouldn't u go 35 all around, what's the feature of doing that? Cuz I am getting the same size rims for my tl 08 Tl, and having no clue why people use a thicker tire in the front.

If I wanna go with different offset, I should go higher in the front or rear?
And do u think +35 offset will fit ur tsx? Cuz I am it will fits my 08 tls too if it does fit ur car.

 

thicker tire in front may be for comfort purposes, though i dunno how much it really helps. wait for a real reply from someone who isn't bullshitting. but 40 has more sidewall than 35, therefore more cushion and absorption of pot holes and bumps, resulting in a more comfortable ride for the driver and passenger, and also a nice FUCK YOU to those riding in the rear or in the trunk(i dont judge)

 

Remember, my original setup was 19x8 +45 all the way around with 245/40 for comfort and rim protection. That's the only reason I stayed with the 245/40 because I didn't want to drop another $1000+ on new tires with my staggered set up. Having said that, 245/40 is slightly bigger overall compared to the OE 225/50/17s and needed less of a drop to achieve the look I wanted without the fear of scrapping the front on driveways and speed bumps.

As far as offsets are concerned, my general rule of thumb is simple. When in doubt, go with a higher offset within 5-10mm. You can always use spacers to get it right cheaply without have to do major modifications to either wheel and/or fenders.

Here's a update on the RX-8. Got bored and used up some of the CF vinyl I had laying around. Other mods include 20% tint and a custom modded TurboXS full exhaust with a high flow cat and extra baffled resonators to keep the volume down... Currently trolling the Z and G forums for some staggered TE-37s.









A sample of the exhaust note and some partial revs. At WOT on the road, it screams like a liter bike
