Cool 07 TSX vs 09 TSX comparison *LOTS of Pictures*

Friend of mine bought a new TL-S so while i was there with him, i went to check out the new TSX.

Its much bigger in person! Almost as long as the TL, if not longer! They handed me the keys and told me do what i want, just dont wreck it. What do I do? I take it and park it next to the 1st gen so i can take pictures.

Overall i really like it. Makes the 1st gen look REALLY bland.

wow thanks for the comparison pics! yes, the new TSX makes the current TL and old TSX looks small and just plain more Civic sized,

just wish you also had parked the new TSX next to an RL and make that comparison in size too. if the new TSX is bigger, wider, and longer than the RL, that would be sad.

Ah, well is the TSX wider?

Something about it made it appear to be much larger.

that's what it says on paper, but did u look at the new TSX parked next to the current TL? the new TSX looks like it's an 1 inch longer than the TL, taller, and a few inches wider too.

The TL is slightly wide too. It is hard to say how much. Acura's website says the TL is 72.2" excluding mirrors. It is the only model with that wrinkle in the numbers.
The TSX is 72.5"

That is the polished metal color. I saw the two and person and they can be confused but the grigio has more brown in it.

I like that spoiler. Which I can put one on my 04 later on.

By the way, according to information on acura.com, the 09 TSX is 3.1 inches shorter than TL.
TL-- 189.3 09 TSX -- 186.2

2008 TSX
Length: 183.5 in.

Weird, so its only 3 inches longer than the 1st gen. Guess my eyes are out of wack.

I saw the 09 TSX in person.

I actually like the interior improvements very much. The rear looks cool,

the grill... .. I just don't get how they came to that design. Doing something different is great, but this grill is just a pure screw up.

Thanks for the pics! I think it *looks* so big because it's more upright. Both the trunk lid and especially the grill are quite tall in relation to the TL. I think this may have to do with the ACE body structure since it's built to deflect impact even when colliding with larger vehicles likes SUVs/Trucks. I saw a new TSX next to the TL and the front end slopes down much more on the TL which visually gives off the impression of being a bit smaller.

As for the grey TSX pictured above. I really dislike the optional door rub strips. Their placement seems like it would't protect you from most door dings and it makes the doors look a bit too similar to the IMO:

I like looking at from every angle but the front. It doesn't look bad, just not as good as other angles.

And it does make the 1st gen look very slab sided it that makes sense. Put some 18's on there and we have a winner.

To me its not even the grille that a deal breaker, could swap it out later with something else. If you look closely at the DRL lights of the 1st gen, its suites well with the high beam and turn signal proportionally and material wise. while the 2nd gen tsx has a dominating round DRL light that makes the low beam looks so small and the location of the DRL amplified by its dominating presentation makes it look like its close to the middle that it looks cross-eyed owl to me. The contrast of the blackout headlights even highlights the DRL negatively and makes it stand out more like a sore eye.

If they can subdue the DRL to co exist with the low beams better like it did with the first gen, maybe it would be ok.

Exactly. It's hard to describe, because the actual car is not higher, taller, or much wider, but it appears taller because the hood area is taller.

Once I got inside the car last Saturday, I really couldn't tell much difference in interior space. It felt very slightly wider, but that's it. It was hardly noticeable. I think the car looks really good, but I didn't get to drive it. Maybe I'll get one as a loaner in a few months when I go in for my next service. If not, I'll see if I can take one for a test drive.

I agree with you Crazy. I did the same thing last Saturday when I took it for a test drive. I put it next to a TL. It looks bigger then the TL. I also think it looks better!

There are lots of people that will flame me for that statement but I think that's a good thing for Acura's sake. It always seems the collective view of these boards is way out of sync with the general public when it comes to styling preferences. We may know what makes a super car good looking, but we seem to have no idea what the general public likes.

Look at the new Accord. Most people on these boards thought it was hideous when first revealed. It is now the best selling car in America passing the Camry this month.

I predict this new TSX will be a sales success.

I already have my 18".

I may be purchasing an 09 very, very, soon. I think I have a buyer for my 04.

The biggest problem may be deciding on color.

Comments like these are realling getting f**king old.

It shows real level of maturity to say nothing but negative comments like compare a TSX to Camry, Saturn, or Fusion.

WOW, What a headline.

Weren't you the same guy being critical of someone purchasing an used S2000?

Saying that he could have bought a BMW Coupe instead.

BMW’s are great, if you don’t mind having them in the shop all the time.

Do you even like Honda/Acura cars?

The s2000 is one of best roadsters you can buy, period!

If you don't like comments like that, just ignore it, and make believe that the new TSX doesn't look like a Camry.

What are u, the thread police? I congratulated him on his purchase of his s2k, and told him that if he's happy with it, that's all the matters. His choice to give up his TSX for the s2k was due to performance. I only told him that if it were i, i would'nt have done that due to the fact that u practically have to drive the s2k's as if u stole it, in order to feel real performance, due to its lack of torque. By the way, i am an Acura owner myself.

Sorry, not trying to start some kind of pissing war here. I have a 04 TSX myself and seem to be in the minority who like the 09 of previous owners. Is it perfect? NO! Is it an improvement? IMO yes.

I am getting real sensitive over negative remarks, especially ones that have been posted here over and over and over again.
