ceb-not so fast on the SUV %. i have 35% on the front windows of my MDX, and they are still just a shade lighter than the rear windows. my brother has 20% on the front windows of his MDX and it looks much more uniform between the front and back. just sayin'.

i've read a few threads about the approx. % of the tint in SUVs and they are probably between 20-30% (measured). could vary depending on the brand/car.

nj2pa-in terms of no tint for this long...i didnt' think about tinting my car when i first bought it. then over time i thought, hey why not. 6 yrs into ownership and i had tint installed in the TL. i then asked myself, why the hell didnt' i do this sooner??? looking for critters, i would hope you'd be looking out the windshield (tinting this i believe is illegal in all 50 states and DC). plus with the xenon headlights the TSX comes with provides plenty of lighting unlike our halogen couterparts.

I'll be glad to take your word on the MDX because I don't own a SUV. I remember my Typhoon had tinted rear windows and the light transmission was stamped on the glass on the label that identifies the manufacturer.

Hi all - so I apologize if this is a dumb question...I was on the phone with the tint shop yesterday and the guy on the phone told me he was going to order the tint I wanted that day. Then he asked what % I wanted. I'm not sure yet, so I told him I wanted to see samples when I came in the shop. He said this was no problem. How can he order tint if he doesn't know what % I want???

I think you answered your own question. He was asking you what % you wanted so that he could order it.

order your tint? tint comes in rolls...sounds like they laser cut the tint rather than hand cut.

i'm with ceb...find another shop.

love the ocean. Great watching for dolphins. Hoping the warm weather returns-Heading to NJ in a week for one week.-between the gas and tolls-it is getting up there in price. I will be making that trip at least once a month for the next 5 months. There goes the tint funds. I also will be needing new tires in the near future. Can not complain-the tires on the car now have 64,000+miles.

How does that sound?

I live in Houston as well and got ceramic a week ago on my TSX, the shop who did my tint said that 30% was the legal percentage on ceramic tint...came out really good and yes the Texas heat is no joke...it will come in handy come May thru December...

I have a ceramic tint on my TL.
IT's quite pricey! I paid $350 for all 5 windows.
Hyper Optik is the best!

there are three main materials.
1)dyed. and is exactly what the name implies. a film that is dyed. this kind of tint is the one that fades. usually the cheapest.
2 and 3) ceramic and metallic. will not fade and has the best heat reflection and UV protection.

also, a ceramic tint will have a different look to it, as opposed to dyed film.

as you can see, its reflective at certain angles.

I live in Houston, and the Texas sun isnt a joke.

the ceramic tint i have on my 2012 tech filters out over 99% of UV rays. Keeps the car cooler in summer and also does not interfere with the Navigation GPS, which others would. It also looks great and cost me only 200.

i have non-metallic hybrid tint. it filters out 99% of UV rays like most others do, will keep the car cooler, but not as heat rejecting as ceramic and DOES NOT interfere with electronics. just saying' you might want to get your info straight before posting such absolute statements. and yes mine looks great too (it's all subjective) and price wise...depends on where you live, the grade of materials and the installer. if you really do have ceramic then you got a great deal. hope you got the moleskin.

dang, i need to find a good shop around me. The place that I've used in the past uses Aegis tint and I don't know much else about it. I've had their tint on my car before and never saw fade, but the windows did seem blurry when I looked through them.
