Wink Recommended Cold Air Intake for my 2010 TSX?

Whats up everyone,

This is my first official thread on this forum, for I am a new TSX owner! 3 months into owning this beast, I've decided to start modding my car. First up...a cold air intake. Completely new to this. Just read a couple things online about them. Looking on carid.com, I found three...

The K&N Typhoon Intake Kit, which is not street legal:
http://www.carid.com/2010-acura-tsx-...es-105818.html

The AEM, which im not sure if its street legal or not:
http://www.carid.com/2010-acura-tsx-...ml#fullInfoTab

And finally, the Injen..which IS street legal:
http://www.carid.com/2010-acura-tsx-...ke-111815.html

Anyone have experience with any of these?? Recommendations? How about HP gain /fuel economy differences?
Im leaning towards the Injen because its street legal..if I were to get pulled over, i dont want a fix it ticket!

Thanks guys!

It all depends on how you drive. I did notice about 2mpg increase and the car feels lighter and pulls better.

I got the aem very nice sounding, I got better throttle response and a bit more pull, gas increase as well very little I get about 15 to 20 km more a tank. When a cop plunks you over they usually won't noticed the difference between the 3 intakes because they all go straight down behind the bumper and cannot see the exposed filter. Unless u put the stickers on the intake.

^That's a great price Victor.

The other alternative will be the CTE Icebox, which is also CARB legal. Unfortunately, they are listed @ $460.

All those companies make good products. Most of our TSX customers prefer the INJEN CAI. Also, check out our website for pricing.

If you find a lower price PM us with a legitimate link and we will try to match or beat it.

Ive been looking at putting in an intake for as long as ive had my car.
yesterday i took my car in for my second a1 service. the dealer did a checkup on the car and found the air filter to be dirty. i decided not to get it changed since it would be a good time to go to a new intake system. but how would the dealer react to it once they see that on was installed. would they have a problem? and use it as an excuse if something goes wrong. if i get a blown speaker, they might blame it on the intake not being an acura oem part.
has anyone had trouble like this?

They will only blame the part if it is proven to be directly responsible for a given failure. It will not void your warranty otherwise. Some dealers are not very mod-friendly. While they may not honor it, it doesn't mean someone else won't. Just depends. Did you hot-rod the hell out of it and throw a piston or smoke the rings? Again, they would have to prove that it was the fault of the modification you did. Otherwise they are still responsible. So I say mod away. But remember, once you start taking your motor apart and adding forced-induction you pretty much screw yourself in the event anything actually does go wrong with your motor. It is a gamble. A $30,000 gamble.

Read the Magnusson Moss Act. It protects the consumer from having the dealer arbitrarily void your warranty.

+1. The sound is great at upper revs

I did notice some rattle at idle from the lower section where the air filter resides, so I put some strips of vinyl door molding w/double sided tape ( I bought from Pep Boys) where the tubing makes contact or possible contact. Problem solved.

Oh no wonder cause sometimes... i thought it was just me but i heard some bits of rattle noise hahah i think it makes that noise from that tube that connected to the stock air box. Like when you removed the stock airbox , there was that ovalish looking tube at the bottom .

find where your tube is scratched, place double sided foam tape on boo-boo, clunking on startup = 100% gone

Takeda makes a great intake as well. The owner of this company came from Greddy when they went under to my understanding.

Exactly what I did and cured the problem. I wonder if the Takata or other CAI's have this issue?

I hate to necro a dead thread, but wanted to ask: If I went with the Injen intake, is any reprogram needed? Their website is a little vague...they suggest just disconnecting the battery to make it readjust?

Also, how does this fit - is it tight (given people are talking about it rubbing against some other parts) - how has is the install - simple enough that with a socket set and a screwdriver I can get it done myself? (I don't shy away from work, but my car work has been limited in past to fluid changes, break changes and whatnot - not modding.)

Thanks!!

^ nope, once you disconnect your battery your ECU will reset/relearn

the fitment is fine. it has a small gap between the tube and a part of the body for certain people for the CAI (the longer tube) but easily fixed with a piece of tape. it only clank againt the part during start up for me so not that bad at all. but other ppl installed it without any problems so might just be the way i angled my tube

and socket set and screw drivers are all you need. and some rags.

oh and if i remember, some pilers but im sure you will be fine. it's the first "big" part that i installed myself (with a friend)

No the ECU does not need to be re-programmed. The install is fairly straightforward

We have both the polished and black intake in stock too if needed.

i got the Injen one and it has performed beautifully. Not that much power gain but the sound and throttle response are much better.

Yea with my takeda intake also, I noticed more of a change in throttle response rather than power.
