Thumbs up Need advice to get new rotors; coming soon

Hello i have a few question about rotors for our cars, ive already turned rotors twice and i dont want to get Acura rotors since they warp so easily, but i do want to get some aftermarket Drilled & Slotted Brake Rotors. i see rotora brand makes them for our cars but do they fit exactly in our cars without any modification and do i have to use another type of brake pad or can i just use the acura brand brake pads?
i do not want to get BBK. i basically want Drilled & Slotted Brake Rotors just to get the most out of our rotors w/o warpage
thanks your advise is apreciated.

Try to search around the forum. I think someone mentioned that the rear on the 2g is bigger than the 1g tsx. I might be wrong though.

We have slotted rotors in stock for the 2nd gen TSX. Did you need front and rear? Did you need pads?

Shoot us a PM or email us at sales@excelerateperformance.com with your vehicle info and zip code and I'll get you a quote.

do you have regular pads or aftermarket. reason why i ask and this is from experience from my nissan, that as soon as you changed them to aftermarket brake pads they would squeak no matter what, and that earks me ...lol

^this.
If you're going to listen to anyone, you should listen to Josh.
He gave me great advice on what to purchase, and my rotors came in pretty fast.
Oh, and customer service was spot on!

thanks Josh!

Did you change the rotors and brake pads yourself? If so, could you post a step by step guide?

I have a different car than you.
but basically its all the same procedure.

1. loosen lug nuts
2. raise car and make sure jack stands are placed under car.
3. remove wheel.
4. remove caliper bracket and caliper piston. these are held on by 4 bolts, 2 for the bracket and 2 for the piston.
5. Heres the hard part.....removing the philips head screw on the rotor. First time, I tried mr heel toes method. didnt work, so i screwed in an extra bolt i had lying around to pop off the rotor from the hub. 2nd time around i just drilled those motherfuckers out.
6. take off rotor. put new rotor on, if slotted make note of L and R rotors labeled on box.
7. bolt back on the caliper bracket and put pads on, then put the piston on and bolt all up.
8. put wheel back on.

With cheaper drilled rotors, you run the risk of cracking the rotor from high heat and high stress.

but why would you buy those rotors when excelerates rotors are about the same price?????

Like the drilled rotors! Are the US Acura rotors the same size as in Euro Accord Cars ( I mean the 2,4 Engine CU2)??
The rotors for the 2,4 engine are bigger than the 2,0 engine in Europe!
The rotors I have on my TypeS 2,4 are
Front 320mm (12,59 inch)
Back 305mm (12,00 inch)
Can someone help me on this???

Whatever you decide on, DO NOT BUY Rotora. They have inferior products and do not stand by them. Search the 1G forum for my thread regarding this dreadful scam of a company. Others posted similar experiences that I had with them, allowing me to deduce my experience was not isolated. Google "rotora sucks" and you'll see everyone's experiences with this "company". Don't give them a dime of your hard earned cash.

In my experience, slotted and/or cross-drilled rotors do nothing more than look nice behind your wheels unless you are tracking your car. If you're looking to upgrade your brakes and not spend the big $$ on a BBK, invest in some high-quality pads such as the RacingBrake ET500s from HeelToe. In fact, the "warping" problem is not so much the factory rotors sucking as much as it is the pads sucking.

Knowing all of this, I couldn't rationalize spending the extra money just for looks so I went to Autozone and bought their blanks which have a 2yr unlimited mileage warranty. With the money I saved going this route, I bought SS lines from HeelToe and now have a SICK brake setup. Vastly superior to the factory brakes.

While upgrading your pads and brake lines to a stainless steel set is a great choice, upgrading your rotors is also very important. There are numerous technical papers that show the advantage of slotted and/or drilled rotors. Also, STOPTECH/Powerslot use a more durable alloy composition in manufacturing their rotors and in some cases upgrade the rotors from straight vanes to curved vanes.

Yes, slotted and/or drilled rotors are aesthetically pleasing but they are also functional. Of course, you need to combine it with a good pad.

Also I'd recommend upgrading your brake fluid to something better when doing the brake lines, something that can withstand a higher temperature before breaking down.

I've had my Rotora BBK on for over a year now and couldn't be happier. There are isolated bad experiences from just about any brand of anything. Sucks you were one of them.

I used to have Rotora slotted rotors on all four on my 1st gen TSX. Initially they were quiet but then they started to make noise. It made this annoying humming noise every time I applied the brakes. I didn't feel any improvement after installing them. When I need to replace rotors on my 2nd gen, I'm just going with blanks. I don't think it's worth spending more money for slotted/cross drilled rotors.
