Looking for PCD/HFPC I4 tester around Chicagoland

Hey guys we are looking for a second gen I4 test car in the Chicago area for some prototyping work. We are working on precat deletes and high flow precats for the newer K series engines. We will need the car for 2-3 days preferably over a weekend. The tester gets a free part. We are are located in Bloomingdale around 30 minutes from the city. PCD or precat deletes are often referred as the best bang for the buck mod. Hopefully we can make them happen for the I4s.

Question, Is this a high flow cat? Would I be able to pass smog when they plug in the obd II connector, or would this throw a CEL?

If CEL passing is possible, I may be your man. I am in STL, but am going up to Chi town in July for business...

I would like to obtain a spare head, I want someone to do a multi angle valve job and bowl blending and port out the exhaust side.... I think there is a big future for the k24z3/7 head, and would be awesome for Turbo...

Just asked the wife, I could swing up, drop off my car while you need it, and either borrow one you have, or rent a car, and go up to chi town.

What's up all?? I am brand new, been lurking here for a week and finally got my 2010 PWP 6 Speed M/T today.

I am very tempted by the test offer but don't really want to give my car up for a weekend, and also don't want you to return my car with a blown motor!

There is very little risk of a blown motor with this type of mod, someone correct me if im wrong. PLUS you could be a community hero

Question, what is the point of posting if you have zero interest in helping out?

This mod wouldn't blow any motor, if anything the motor will spin more freely, and breath more as originally intended by the performance engineers of the car.

yes, a little more information on the high flow precat delete would be great

and smog test is also a concern, especially for us cali folks.

We will have the option for a high flow cat or just a straight pipe. With the straight pipe option there will be a adapter to trick the sensor. You should fine with inspection with the high flow cat.

Good thing the 8th gen accord and tsx share the same head. There should be plenty of spare heads in a few years when more cars are totaled.

If you are willing to do this I have no problem renting you a car. If we plan it right we can do all the mock up in few hours and test on a separate day or different car. My shop is 20 mins from Woodfield Mall and 35 mins from downtown.

The first phase we would only use the car to mock up the piping and make jigs. The prototype manifold is plastic so we can't start the car anyways. You are than welcome to stay and watch. After the manifold is confirmed we will get it made in cast stainless and weld it to the piping we made on the first day. If you worry about your engine we can have someone else dyno it. Right now we mainly just need a car to design the piping. I dont even need the keys.

No, not at all. The individual who lives up near Chi town. I am just curious what the point was?

If he could do the mock up, it would be awesome. If not, I will setup time that I could go up there and get this done.

gitter done!

Also, I don't think it's necessary to bitch at chitown for his post, I think he just needed some assurances that his car would be safe. Last time I checked, anybody with an account is free to post whatever the hell they want.

In the past on my other cars, a high flow did not lend itself to the smell issue you are describing. If these are a magnaflow core for the high flow cat, this should be in line with that also.

Yes it would be a direct bolt on. With all the room in the engine bay you could easily swap it in and out.

If you deleted the second cat as well there will be a exhaust smell outside of the car. With a high flow cat you it shouldn't be very noticeable.
