FWD to AWD

So guys currently I have a 2000 Acura TL, but im well on my way to an 09 TSX. The only thing that kind of bugs me with acura is that they are all FWD. I want to do a transmission conversion to make it AWD. Is this possible? What car can I use? I saw a video where a guy used the transmission from an 08 crv in a Civic Hatch so please help me out guys. Thank you

you want to trade in your '09 TSX and buy the '10 TL...which comes in AWD and six speed manual if that's your fancy.

you bought the wrong car

Assume, for all intents and purposes, this is impossible.

There was one guy from Russia on here way back that did an AWD conversion on a Accord Euro. They used the powertrain from a CRV. Goodluck...

Then it's that 10% rear wheel torque, too. Yuck.

Found it:

Not sure if the engine was swapped too, but they supercharged it...
YT links still work, but pics don't show up for me.

wishing OP luck that he has the aptitude to get this done.
it's more likely to be a project than a daily driver tho. as most posters who ask these kind of questions dont even start on the project. props to the russian guy as he put his money where his mouth is

I highly highly respect the people who do things like this. Making your own car literally. This is like the ultimate form or definition of modding to me. However I think it's a massive waste of time and money when there are a crap ton of better and more viable options already om the market. Why spend all this time/money making a fwd car AWD, when you can simply buy a large variety of AWD cars already available?

the ONLY time it is worth it; is if you can find an Acura for $300 or less.
so; lets say just a rolling chassis of a 1st gen TSX.
then you could just go to junk yards to get the parts you need.

1st gen TSX + 1st gen RDX SHAWD tranny + aftermarket turbo = 600 SHAWD HP

if it's your daily driver. as you'll never get it off the ground in any sort of timely manner

Well i mean yeah I guess if I could buy the cars really cheap, then MAYBE. But I can't wrap my head around spending 10-15k to turn something into something else when for the same price/cheaper you could buy what you tried making, already. Does that make sense?

of course! it doesnt make sense to do it to your daily driver or to spend that much money on the swap.
junk yard parts to keep cost down and you would most likely have to do everything yourself...fabricate brackets and stuff.

what I really want is the K-sight!
this company in Florida takes a Honda insight adds their own AWD system and swaps in a K-series engine..
you can then turbo this to make any where from 200hp(n/a) - 600hp(turbo) in a car that weighs less than 2000lbs

All I can figure out from your post is you feel you have some heavy duty penance to perform and this would be a good avenue to pursue for said penance. Beyond that, attempting something like this will most likely have a bad ending and cost hundreds of hours and many thousands of dollars.

Oof!! 200-600hp in only 2000 pounds? Holy shit.
