I'm sorry, I am kinda new to all this. Is 4K considered cheap?? I was thinking around 1K

....I don't know about you, but 4k is NOT cheap at all! If you only want sound and not much, if any, performance gain, just go buy 2 universal exhausts and replace the stock ones. Depending on how much you want to spend, you can get various exhausts from top brands to any random crap.

Apexi exhausts = $200-350?
Magnaflows = $100-250?
Skunk2 = $150-300?
GReddy = $250-400?

My rough estimations, someone correct me if I'm wrong as I haven't really done much researching on exhausts yet. There are plenty of other brands out there too but those are just a few of the 'main/popular/known' brands.

So if you don't wanna spend around 1.1-1.5k on a Fujitsubo exhaust system, just grab 2 universal mufflers and get them fitted in at a work shop.

Once you weld on a universal muffler, then are you stuck with it? I am very conscientious about re-sale value, so any modification I want to be able to take off once I am ready for a new car. Please correct me if I am wrong, being that I really don't know much about mufflers.

^ i've never done this before, but I imagine sawing off your original and welding on a new muffler would be a permanent thing....
