EBC 3GD Rotors and Yellowstuff Pads

Who here is running the rotors in particular? I know most go for the Greenstuff or Redstuff pads because they hate the dust. I personally feel if you can't stop quick then dust means jack shit. I have only 200 miles on these as of right now and only once did I have to stop a little quicker than usual. That one time made me very happy I bought these because I felt no such brake fade that I commonly felt with the stock brakes, which honestly scared the hell out of me. I'm about to order the Techna-Fit stainless lines shortly (after I move to my new place) and by then the brakes should be fully bedded in.

I'm really curious because I see all kinds of people doing suspension/aesthetic mods but I rarely see anyone doing their brakes. I wonder why. ???

I am looking into this too. In need of new brakes now and was going to go for the upgrade. Pardon my ignorance on all the brake stuff but I dont know the true differences. What are the benefits to the slotted/dimpled rotors vs the slotted? I see the yellow stuff pads seem to be the best as far as stopping power but from what I gather, they produce a lot of dust? Just looking for more input on this topic. Thanks guys.

I would like to know the differences of the rotors as well. I heard the slotted ones wear out faster? Is that true?

running them with Hawks HPS, so far so good, a little noisy at first but still bedding in the pads and wearing off the coating

My brakes have the Acura squeal from time to time, if it gets persistent I'll proly look into better brake rotors, pads and stainless steel lines

The slotted/dimpled rotors aren't just for show. Yeah they look good but they do have a function and I can feel it everytime I stop.

My TechnaFit Stainless lines came in a few days ago too. I have an appointment with the dealer on the 20th to have them all replaced and they're going to do the obligatory check for brake runout and scoring since I now have 1,300 miles on them. Still have some squealing at half pedal so they're gonna try to fix that for me. Can't wait to get the lines on. Got 'em in yellow so they'll match the pads. Lol!

Similar to the USR Black rotors by EBC, the coating does wear away on the GD Series as well. So the protective coating will stay where the pad does not contact the rotors (such as in the slots, etc) but will wear away rather quickly on the spots where the pad contacts the rotor.

Tannis, glad you are enjoying the custom lines

Is anyone making slotted rear rotors yet?

If I'm going to upgrade I'd like to go F/R slotted rotors, pads, and SS lines.

The slotted rotors shouldn't wear out faster. They may wear out your pad faster as they have the slots which shave off more material than a typical non-slotted/grooved rotor.

The slots and dimples help to keep your pad from wearing unevenly like "grooving". They "shave" off the imperfections. This also decreases the chances of getting pad deposites on your rotor. These pad deposits are what most people think are the rotors "warping." While it is very possible to have a warped rotor most typical street cars don't heat up the rotor enough to warp it. What is very common though is the OE and OE replacement style pad material has a tendancy to build up higher in one spot than another which gives the feeling of "warped" rotor.

Hey Mark... I was extremely impressed with the build quality of these lines so thank you for the recommendation. Saved me quite a bit of cash compared to these other yahoos up the road wanting to sell me something else entirely. And holy crap that sway bar came in fast!

And to anyone else reading this, don't bother with the Goodridge lines that are like $250. Not necessary at all. Get the Techna-Fit lines for the 08 Accord (they will fit). You can even get them in a custom color. Like I said in a previous response, mine are yellow. Not bright or anything. Just a nice accent. These are built-to-order as well. Even if you don't do upgraded rotors and pads I think everyone should consider this as a standard upgrade... especially after looking at the stock rubber lines.
