The manufacturer did that on purpose (for effect). Metal reacts to heat (see the 2nd picture at the top where they used blowtorch to weld the pipes together).
Yea I realize as one gets older they will probably come to appreciate a calm silence more than a loud exhaust, but like many of you at this age..I cant drive a car that I cant hear. Hearing the car is part of the experience for me.
I don't mind a bit of noise, but being on the road for at least 2 hours a day driving to and from work, the loud noise can quickly become tiring.
One of the reason I liked the CTE Icebox in my car is that under normal throttle, there's hardly any additional noise, but push the engine above 4K mark and you can hear the sweet sound. And yes, I am ancient compare to most of you folks here

You've got to be kidding...."backpressure" when you completely hacked your exhaust and are happy about having backfires
I don't think our stock exhaust note is that bad. My current work schedule requires me to drive to work at 6 in the morning, and my route includes a two lane residential street with cars parked on either side (speed limit 25mph). I roll part of my window down and just drive in 2nd gear, pushing it up to 40/50 mph and 6/7000 RPMs at times.
My point is that on a narrow street like that the sound is amplified and it sounds great. It seems like that as the engine ages it just keeps sounding better.

Do you still have stock primary and secondary cats installed .
It sounds like your to free flowing, puling some of the combustion into the exhaust to soon , you will need to add a muffler or at least a resonator up front, like under passenger compartment area .

Well I would measure first but I would say 18 to maybe 24 inch Louvered Core Resonator(like picture below the one on the right) Will remove any if not all raspiness from your exhaust note also giving you a deeper tone more of a growl. In other words it wont sound like an aluminium can and will increase back pressure and remove your back fire. good luck.

Heres a link I found online. Hope its ok to post.
