So if you have a problem, you just put the old one back in? That's warranty fraud and makes you look guilty since there will be lots of toolmarks - even if the CAI didn't cause the problem it'll look like you tried to cover it up.
Nope. All they have to prove is that you modified a system.

Most people don't understand that while the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act protects the consumer from "tie-in" sales ("you have to use Eureka filter bags in your new vacuum in order to keep the warranty intact"), this does not apply to performance parts.
Although the SEMA and the aftermarket industry tries to convince you otherwise, the MMWA allows the consumer to replace an OE part with an aftermarket part that is substantially similar. That means that you can replace an Osram 9004 bulb with a 9004 bulb from Sylvania that is warranted to be a direct replacement.
However, all bets are off as soon as you use anything that isn't a direct replacement. If it is intended to change the performance of a system (a CAI is sold an "improving performance" even though we know that they don't) then all the manufacturer needs to show is that you made a mod that was intended to change the performance of a system and that the aftermarket part could have caused the failure.
The manufacturer is then free to refuse warranty service on that failure. The manufacturer rep (the dealer) is actually required by their agreement with the manufacturer to refuse warranty service if they believe that the mod caused the failure.
Will a CAI cause warranty issues? Probably not but it also will not increase performance. Most CAI actually decrease performance but increase noise.

Ct-engineering is currently not a safer option in regards to your warranty anymore as honda/Acura no longer honors or sells their products as a "direct factory replacement" (like comptech used to be). Currently the only factory options that honda offers directly for the aftermarket is accessories from their HFP line which includes body kits, bigger wheels, floor mats etc. Acura has similar accessories available as well, but nothing performance oriented anymore unfortunately.
I would much rather re-install the factory intake then drive in with my AEM installed with any warranty issue yes. As crooked as the dealer is I wouldn't sweat it one bit. You seem like a pretty smart guy, enough to know that the stealerships have done much worse to the typical consumer. That being said if anybody is that concerned about their factory warranty being voided by an intake or any aftermarket performance part to simply wait until the warranty is done to make any mods.
P.S. My warranty ended a few thousand miles ago so LET THE MODDING CONTINUE!!!

The bottom line is very simple. Depending on the mod and your relationship with the dealer, ANY mod can cause warranty woes.
Choose your mods carefully and make sure that you are both mentally and financially prepared for unintended consequences.
