Women and the voice on your navi?

I've noticed a cultural 180 with a couple different female passengers and the female voice on my navi. Typically women always complain about men not pulling over to ask for directions when in an unfamiliar area. Now, there's this easy-to-use system with portal to portal directions yet for some reason they resent her, even in one case name her "Veronica" after the b1tchy brunette in the Jughead cartoons.

At minimum, they roll their eyes when you go to program it calling it a stupid expensive toy, at the other end of the spectrum one chica refused to give me the address and instead called out turn-by-turn directions to me.

The cases in point were a wedding, a funeral and a concert with three different women that come to mind quickly.

Is my navi somehow usurping their 'authority' or encroaching on their territory?

Ha. As a female, I would have to say your female friends sound insecure or something. It does not/would not bother me in the least to have a female voice on the navi. It's just a voice in the car, get over it! What is it supposed to be, a robot voice?

HD- I know for the US model, you can choose between male/female voice on the Bluetooth HFL (HandsFreeLink). Hit the Talk button and say "system" then after beep hit the Talk button again and say "setup", you will then hear the HFL response ‘‘Would you like male or female prompts?’’.

This may or may not change the Navi voice, but it doesn't hurt to try it out. In Canada, we only have female voice option and my kids name her Hanna.

Weird. Females that ride in my car are usually impressed by the voice.

Mine are usually just impressed by me.

In gender fairness, I suppose that's a given too.

In the case of the funeral, I was playing chauffer to g/f and her friend who's 'partner' had offed himself. We were travelling from one end of the city to the other (both unfamiliar areas) and in the interest of *not* being late as usual I asked for the address & was given 'the business' about "Just go, we'll figure it out."

As for the concert, we had tickets for Johnny Lang and Buddy Guy in Savannah, GA. Using the navi we found a close suitable hotel within walking distance to the venue. Still, every time Veronica popped up and said "Take exit XXX." She was met with "YES Veronica.....b1tch."

At the wedding, it was "Turn that damned thing off...you and your toys." This was in St Augustine, close to me but still a hard city to navigate.

Based on y'alls responses I've strengthened my resolve that it's them, not me. Cool. Thanks! So instead of defeating the navi, I'll just remove the passenger side air bag....um...I mean windbag.

I know this is a stupid post. I'm not good at starting threads, but was curious if any of you experienced the same thing.

Wow this post was entertaining. My gf has a similar response when the car "speaks." She has a tendency to take her seat belt off 3 houses before hers when I'm dropping her off. Of course the car warns to fasten her seat belt, the gf always says "OK OK B1tch." It's too funny to see her get upset, lol.
