What 6.5 Speakers Did You Go With

I have searched site ,and see very little info on the speaker setups on what replaced your existing garbage oem speakers..... I would just like to see what people are running in the doors and the deck, and if you used the factory setup... I just bought a 09 ,and these speakers are ABSOLUTELY awful!!!! I tried to get the dealership to replace them . but since the car was out of warranty by 3k they wouldn't do anything.. They tried to sell me the oems for 98$ each, and I kindly declined. Thank you !!!

lmao to funny, i replaced mine with JL Audio C3-650s, signal was such crap from stock amp (this is base non tech) that i had to get a JBL MS8 which is basically a signal sum and clean up device on crack. shit sounds immaculate now but you may not have prob with navi package and the ELS sound system amp.

FYI if you try and bypass the amp in the Tech package with the ELS audio you will lose all stereo functionality i believe as the amp provides the EQ and volume control rather than the headunit.

By no means am I an Audio expert, but I am just looking for clarity ,and a hint of bass... I was thinking of doing Alpine Type S all around 6 speakers, but I'm not too sure if that's a good thing or not... I may have to look into the Jbl's you are speaking of.

I did install it by myself. You will need these: (amazon says this does not fit the TSX, it's wrong)
Amazon.com: Metra 72-7800 Honda and Acura Speaker Adapter Harness Connector - Pair: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Metra 72-7800 Honda and Acura Speaker Adapter Harness Connector - Pair: Car Electronics
Amazon.com: Scosche SAHC634 2006 -Up Honda Civic Door Speaker Adapter for 6 1/2-Inch Speakers: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Scosche SAHC634 2006 -Up Honda Civic Door Speaker Adapter for 6 1/2-Inch Speakers: Car Electronics

Installing in the rear deck is super easy and takes all of 10 minutes. Door speakers take a bit longer since the whole panel needs to come off. there is instructions posted somewhere here but its easy to figure out yourself.

Thanks, I just bought 3 harnesses on ebay for 5.85 each and free shipping, and later on tonight I will buy another bracket adapter for the rear deck... I thought for sure the rear deck was just drop in and didn't need the bracket...

does those metra 72-7800 harness work with the acura tsx 2010 subwoofer harness? I put an LOC I figured if I use this than splicing maybe it might not have a bit of static when the song is playing.

I went with Dynaudio Esotar2 650's for the Doors, Dynaudio 15w38 in the kick panels and Sinfoni Maestoso tweeters in the remade sails.

I'm scared to upgrade my factory speakers as bad as I want to but I have the tech package. Apparently no one has found aftermarket speakers that go well with the factory els amp.. I like more of a pure and flat sound as opposed to boosted highs and lows so idk

Yeah the ELS amp pretty much changes the entire signal just so that they would sound half decent on the shitty speakers that come with the tech CU2s. Some people mentioned that when they swapped the OEM speakers with something respectable, everything sounded outrageously bad because of the amp.

mercman makes harnesses or something that will fix this problem (can't remember how, perhaps bypassing?)... however he seems to have lost interest in helping the tech guys out, probably because it isn't worth his time. There's a thread on this that I've bumped to no avail.

i think his harness made it so you could adapt the tech HU into a new amp.

But are you using the kicker amp to push all those new speakers?? I'm looking for something that can be pushed by the factory amp, I don't want to have to get another piggy back amp to push new speakers

I make a harness/adapter for the base (Premium) audio system. The preamp I built for the ELS system would be too expensive to build in small quantities.

I noticed an improvement from the 2009 ELS system when I had my 2012. I didn't measure it but it sounded like they backed off on some of the over boosted highs prehaps because of all the blown speaker issues they had.

There are two possible amps available for the 2012 on Tech package TSX. Pull your amp & check the part number. Mine came with the 39186-TP1-A81 PREMIUM AUDIO AMPLIFIER. Only my dash unit has the ELS logo on it.

14___39186-TP1-A71__ AMPLIFIER ASSY._____________ AUDIO (ELS)____________ 001_________ 2012______ TSX_____ $1130.63_____ $847.97
14___39186-TP1-A81__ AMPLIFIER ASSY._____________ PREMIUM AUDIO________ 001________ _ 2012______ TSX_____ $1191.42_____ $893.57

Interesting. Isn't "premium audio" what comes with the base TSX? It costs more than the ELS unit too from what you've posted.

^^yeah. I'm pretty sure the premium audio is not what comes with TECH. Perhaps choosing TECH on the acuraoemparts still decides to list both amps, but in actuality all TECHs come with the ELS amp from the factory.

Look again at the parts diagram! #13 is the non tech package amplifier, that part number is not listed.

Now look at the pictures of MY amplifier & dash controller.

Definitely odd. So this mean that the other amp, even though called "premium audio", is really an ELS amp as well?
