VLED Triton V3 LED Switchback bulbs!

I purchased the VLED Triton V3 LED Switchback bulbs to replace the 1157 bulbs in my front corners as I purchased a set of headlamps with clear corners. I initially ordered the traditional style 60 led switchback tower but prior to even opening these I decided to take the plunge and buy the best option available. Since I knew the bumper would need to be removed to install these bulbs properly, I took the car to Performance Acura and had them do the installation. They too were blown away with how intensely bright these Triton V3 bulbs are. They rival factor led installations in terms of intensity. These leds are so bright that the literally illuminate the front corner of the car. The installation was actually pretty time consuming and took them about 2 hours to get everything hooked up properly. I would recommend these bulbs without question even though the $120 price tag I paid for these including the CLS module may be seen by some as pretty steep. Anyway, on to the good stuff!

Why was installing the bulb time consuming? Is it not a simple plug in?

Yup, I rear ended somebody so I needed to replace the passenger headlight, bumper, and fender. Insurance provided $670 for the one headlight and I purchased a Depo set on eBay from Fishcake for $399. They are replicas though, not original equipment. The projectors are good but not as good as the originals.

Installing these jokers was a nightmare to be completely honest. I actually had the dealership install them for me along with fog light belts at a cost of $160. At first I thought that was steep but it literally took 2 hours to install these things. Now that they know how to do it they could probably do it in an hour or so but it involves removing the whole front bumper and headlight assemblies for the car. The V3 bulb connects to a ballast type device which plugs into the CLS module which stops hyper flash that module plugs into the 1157. and I tried to access them by pulling back the fender lining, but there's just not enough space there. If you are comfortable removing the bumper you could install these with some help but just know its not quick. Plus I had them tap into the headlight power wire to dim them when the headlights are on.

That was the sale price including the hyper blink modules. But when you see all the components that go into making them work I think it's a good value. Their 90 led switchback are like $70 right? And that's solely a bulb. These basically have ballasts.

6000K 28LED. I'll be switching to the new CREE R5 chip bulbs they have once they get back in stock though since these bulbs also function as high beams.

Nice. I ordered mine and will be getting these next week. Hopefully the install won't be too bad since I've done it before. My obstacle would be figuring where to put those modules.

Nice. Modules can be mounted on inner fender and battery surround.

Noob here to lighting... thanks much for the post and great pics... especially in Grigio
Few quick questions on your pics... running lights show clear, right? But turn signal is amber. The lenses are cleared.
Know you're talking about the lights, but these are GREAT pics of the cleared headlights... so question for JnC or those who know about cleared headlights - is this what taking the OEM headlights and having them cleared looks like?

I would really like to get the tritons, but $120 seems pretty steep just for turn signals. I hope the price will drop once they aren't as new.

They look great though!

having your headlights cleared usually just means taking out the amber reflector. what OP has are cleared reflectors. which are the amber reflectors but clear instead of amber. some members have tried reproducing the cleared reflectors but none of them have been successful yet. it's too hard to get that corner edge (Z-shape area)

Laws? Stating you need reflector? Or just that your turn signal be amber? Which would be remedied by the switchback?

Afraid not, that was the introductory price. Price has now actually gone up to $134.99 I believe.

you sure they will function as hi-beams? I couldn't find much info on these.

are resistors required as well?

Resistors are required to eliminate the DRL malfunction indicator. The high beams will function correctly though. Not as much light as a halogen bulb just b/c of the design but they still will illuminate the road ahead.

I'm an idiot but are switchbacks a type of bulb (like halogen) or a bulb location (turn signal)?

Switchbacks are a type of led bulb that allow you to have white sidemarkers and orange signal indicators from one set of bulbs.

I installed the amber TRITON V3's in the rear tails ---holy crap they are bright!! much brighter than the OEM incandescents; this is what LEDs are all about! yes they are pricey--but they work like LEDs SHOULD!

I like these because I lost the eggyolk effect and they're bright as hell (with no hyperflash).

I don't really see what the advantage of having these is for anything other than switchbacks. To me they looks just a bulb would.
