Is there a monthly fee or subscription to receive real traffic updates and weather updates ? I see it's a part of the tech package, but I was just wondering about the "fine print" Also is the navigation system difficult to operate. I am not really a tech person, but I would like to get the tech package.

Yes. There is a fee for RT Traffic and Weather. Something like $4 or so a month for each. There is no fee to use the navigation.

It is relatively easy to use. It does have a learning curve, but so does everything else.

remember that you have to subscribe to satellite radio to be able to add on the traffic and/or weather...thats always been a sore spot for me as I never listen to satellite radio but would easily have the traffic and weather if I could have those seperately...is there a reason (other than more revenue) that they require radio with all packages?

Thanks I wont be subscribing to satellite radio. So I won't get weather and traffic updates either. No problem since I am not looking to add on any unnecessary expenses.

The good news is that as long as XM doesn't go out of business, you can always subscribe at a later date.
